Loving YTtalk
Hi there people! My most successful video so far has nearly reached 9.000 views and I couldn't be happier. Well, maybe I could. Because there's lots of dislikes on the video, lots more than likes.

I started with lots of dislikes due to posting it on Reddit. Not that big of a deal. But it seems like, even after the Reddit-hate, that the dislikes keep coming.

What am I doing wrong? What can I improve?

Any feedback on this video, me and my channel in general is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and I will return the favor if I don't forget ok haha :D

Kind regards,

James

I really liked your video!

The game was new to me, I have never seen nor heard of it before. The commentary was funny. the pacing was just right for the game. There was plenty of variety (different cars) to keep me interested.

Why the dislikes?
  • I have used Reddit for over two years, and can tell you, the communities are very dynamic. One day your video may do very well, the next, not so much.
  • I'm not sure where you posted your videos originally, but I would try /r/NewTubers (advice, subs, collaborations), more specific subreddits than something like /r/games
  • Make sure that you have an account with prior history on Reddit. No one will like seeing a possible self promotion, only to discover that the poster only links to their own content. Be engaged with the communities you are interested in, and build up a reputation!
So why the continued dislikes?

It's definitely not right, or fair, but there seems to be a tipping point for videos where any critique or negative thought that enters a viewers head about your video turns into a dislike because of the number of preexisting dislikes. For example, if I watch a video that has 60% dislikes and I encounter a part that is boring or controversial or otherwise, I am naturally going to feel like I have the support and approval of all those people who disliked before me.

At least that's my take on it. I liked the video and see no reason why it would get more than the one or two usual dislikes which may appear.

Great work man!

Thank you so much mate! I was also worried that some sort of "sheep instinct" triggered. I don't want to blame it on that though, I of course do want to continue improving every single day.

NewTubers is a Reddit I have given a go several times, but it never did anything for me, unfortunately.

I have about 1.700 Reddit points or what ever they're called. But it is a great tip to actually get to know the actual subreddit before spamming the hell out of it lol...

Thanks again! I appreciate it a lot :)
