My Friends Views On Youtube Channels.

Do you agree with what my friend said?

I'm not really sure I have an official opinion on the first two, since I think it really depends on the person. But the third one is definitely wrong. Sure there are a ton of gaming channels, but for every popular one there are literally thousands of channels that get no views. This is because YouTube is so saturated with gaming channels that the bar is set extremely high. A gaming channel is the hardest channel to make.

She honestly thinks that every channel should be their full name and not stuff like 'danisnotonfire', 'kickthepj' or 'AmazingPhil'
I disagree with this. Some people don't really want their full names on the internet and sometimes it's easier to remember something cooler like 'danisnotonfire'
Also a flaw in her plan is that she went to to say that she was fine with the username 'ItsKingslyBitch' because it's 'how you would talk'. I don't see how it is different to 'kickthepj' at all

2) 'There's no point until your 16'
She says that no one wants to watch people under the age of 16 because 'they wont be taken seriously'. She also thinks that younger people have nothing interesting to volg about apart from making toast. WHO HAS EVER MADE A VIDEO OF THEMSELVES MAKING TOAST?!?!?! (actually I think I have an idea for my next video. (we can make this like a tag, the toast tag))
I disagree with this because if you do start now you will have an audience for when you 'get taken seriously'. Also I see loads of under 16s making cool vlogs and never once have I seen anyone make toast.

3) 'All gaming videos get tons of views'
Especially minecraft. She thinks that all minecraft videos get tonnes of views and that all gaming channels have tonnes of subscribers.
I feel as if I cannot comment on the minecraft videos because I do not make/watch them but I feel like I can comment on the subscribers. She doesn't have a channel so she doesn't know how hard it can be to get one off the ground and get subscribers. I feel as it is even more hard to get started if you are a gaming channel because there are so many others like you trying to do the same thing.

They are just her opinions and my thoughts on them.

1 - Silly Usernames are an excellent marketing tool. Having a catchy name or pseudonym is the key to being remembered. Anything easy to say or label. Labels are so important in the internet world. "Meme Theory" applies here. I'd recommend only ever starting a youtube channel with a silly name.

2 - Starting early is actually a better plan. It's not important to be taken seriously, it's important to be seen. Starting young allows you more time to get a following and loyal fanbase before you get older. That way when you're older and have less time to focus on your channel you'll already have more resources to make better quality videos over longer periods of time. It'll also allow viewers to "grow" with you and be a part of your entering into adulthood. As long as you can create a coherent sentence and interesting content that's all that matters.

3 - Gaming videos don't get a ton of view. This is just incorrect. In fact I'd say starting a letsplay channel now would take longer to become popular as opposed to a vlog.

I'd say your friend was misinformed about her opinion.
 
Opinions are like moods everyone has them lol, gaming videos are massive though I feel it depends on the game ( Battlefield I'm looking at you ) as for usernames I would say go with what works for you. I'm also jumping on the toast tag idea that could work.
