I want to start making videos of my son (because he's so charming and handsome) like The Engineering Family, ToyLabTV an ryan toysreview all of whom he just adores. Would my current Canon EOS 70D with a Rode mic be too cumbersome? I have wanted to get a GoPro for his birthday parties and other such activities and am also wondering if this would be a simpler solution for making YouTube videos as well. Thanks!

Both are really good, but gopros are more designed for sports related activities so it might be of a lesser quality when it comes to resolution and color. Also Go Pros are very small making them good for stationary videos but not good if you're trying to use it as a cinematic camera which I would say the Canon EOS 70D is more capable.
