I used Movie Maker for the first six months of my YouTube career, then moved onto Movavi Video Editor, which cost me 20-30€. I would probably still be using Movie Maker if it wasn't for the codec issues I faced with it. But I do not regret buying my current software, as I do feel like I want to start doing a bit more than what I was able to do with Movie Maker. But I agree, if you don't want to do any fancy or even slightly fancier editing, and you don't have issues like I did, Movie Maker is plenty.
