Minecraft Capture Software - Advice

Loving YTtalk
Hey everyone hope your doing well. I was hoping to upload some minecraft videos onto my YouTube channel in the near future. But the important questions is:- What software do I use to capture the gameplay?

Majority of minecrafter's seem to be using Fraps. But I've read on other forums that the file size can be huge, lagging is an issue sometimes etc

Dxtory is a software that has come into my attention. Some members on this forum don't use Fraps but use Dxtory instead. Is it because its much easier to use? Simple interface?

What are you thoughts on the software's that are being used to capture minecraft gameplays?
Do you have minecraft videos on your YouTube channel if so what software do you use?
Would you recommend the software to someone who is planning to upload some gameplays of their own?

The Following information will be software's that are used to capture minecraft gameplays. Posted by the members of the forum. Thanks to everyone.

Fraps - Majority of users have used this particular software such as; GamerKeebzy
Advantage:- Great quality, simple to use

Disadvantage:- File size can be huge. 5-15 minutes long gameplay can result in 3.5GB file size. So if your hoping to upload gameplays that are 30 minutes long that means the file size will be around 7-8GB each. Not many options to choose from.

Camera Studio - Recommended by TheNM22 - Please check out his post as I am not able to post Links.
Advantage:-
Disadvantage:-

Dxtory - Recommended by JacobofArabia
Advantage:- Great software to use. Lot'sof options to choose from.

Disadvantage:- Quite difficult to use, beginners may find it difficult to use.

MSI Afterburner - Free software to use, some member's think its "better" than Fraps

Bandicam -

Thanks

back when I was recording minecraft, Fraps was what I used, the file sizes are fairly large but because of that it means there are less framerate issues as all video is completely uncompressed. I have never tried Dxtory though.

Hey GamerKeebzy & TheNM22 thanks for your response.

GamerKeebzy, that's another member who's used Fraps for minecraft. When you say file size are fairly large does that depend on the length of the video or the settings that you have chosen to capture the gameplay in?

@ TheNM22, thanks for that post bud. Looks interesting and has alot of important information. Great :)

Thanks

Fraps is good to use as long as you use Sony vegas which compresses the files down to0 a very small size while still retaining it's quality.

But Dxtory is in my opinion even better than fraps it splits the commentary and the gameplay so you can choose which is louder unlike fraps :)

I hope this helped you in anyway :)

I couldn't say for sure, but as far as I've noticed the only things that really affect the file size for fraps are framerate and resolution, the higher either is the larger the file size but either way you're going to be averaging somewhere between 5-15mins per 3.5Gb, it varies a lot from game to game and I'm not sure what causes it really lol

Hey JacobofArabia & GamerKeebzy thanks for your response.
JacobofArabia, I have been using Sony Vegas since I ever started editing so it shouldn't be a problem if I was to use Fraps.
Dxtory, that's a new software that I've never heard of lol. It's good to discover new software's that are able to do the job. Will surely add to the list bud. Thanks for your response it surely will help me out. Most importantly help other members out of the community who are also hoping to capture minecraft gameplays for their YouTube channel.

GamerKeebzy, those figures are fricking crazy! 5-15 minutes = 3.5GB damn!
People often upload gameplays longer than 30 minutes so that means it more than 7GB,
Holly crap!

only on recording, once edited and rendered you can make it pretty much any file size you want :D

Ah you had me worried, very worried. lol
So would you say 720p videos will be around 2GB depending on length.
1080p videos will be around 4GB depending on length.

Both after which have been edited and rendered?
