Massive drop in views on kid channels

I wonder why Toys Unlimited removed videos that removed 218 Million views. Are some of these top creators coming up with a game plan.

How do you know if they did it or YouTube did it?

They might be trying to target 13 up but if they are doing it it is useless. AI will look back at the channel audience was. Also if a user goes from peppa pig to his stuff AI will know that his content is for kids too

I don't know why she lost views but I lost almost a million public views when I decided to Unlist a series (but they are still available in a playlist).
If you're not making plans to pivot, you're at risk of losing potential revenue.

So she unlisted them and is trying to switch her target audience. It’s useless at this point. AI knows who her audience is. She will be dropped out from suggested quick since older people don’t watch this kind of content.
2020 will be the hardest year. If you don’t change you’ll have a large audience (kids) and poor pay but if you change adults won’t be watching unboxing videos or whatever you make. Plus if you change and later viewers from peppa pig come to you AI will know it is a kid and your video can be converted to a kid video. Changing your niche or target audience for an established channel is a suicide. Might as well start a new channel.

I think unboxing toys is a thing of the past like spinners. YouTube needs content that has storyline and brings value. All this senseless content will go away. That’s why Pixar always said story is the king.

The outdated coppa law needs to be revised. That law even have parts where you cannot put a child’s picture online, voice etc now kids reviewing toys and make millions. So that law is outdated.

Kids TV like Nick Jr. and Disney Jr. are filled with toy ads. What is the difference between TV and video in these days? If they start labeling kids content as just that, then only kid appropriate ads should be targeting kids labeled content.

Also, how do they use the excuse that 5 year olds watching a kids video don't understand the difference between a sponsored video and one that is not. Last time I checked my 5yo didn't have her own credit card. She can't just run out and buy something on her own becauase she saw it on Ryan's ToyReviews. Me as the responsible parent will decide what I buy for my kid and if it is actually a decent quality toy or not. Whether the video was sponsored or not, I will be the deciding factor if it gets purchased.

Almost none of this is accurate. None of it. Channels successfully pivot all the time. At the beginning of a pivot, kids will watch. But then your new target demographic will watch, assuming your content is worth watching. Over a few months, your audience is changed. Remember that YouTube doesn’t do anything based on a channel. It’s on a per-video basis.

I have lots of vlog type videos. And lots of kids videos. The kids ones have made it in the kids app. The vlog ones haven’t. YouTube handles each video individually.

I personally don’t think there’s any utility in deleting past videos. Just shift and move forward with your upload schedule. Go to any big YouTuber and sort by oldest first and watch the transformation. Channels shift and change constantly. Hence videos are handled individually.

Pivoting is 100% a fine strategy. But if you’re purely in it for the money you’re going to sink quickly.

You will notice that kids content on TV is extremely strict when it comes to advertising. For instance, the FTC won't allow Paw Patrol to advertise Paw Patrol toys while a Paw Patrol episode is on. You will never see fast food advertising on a kids show. I don't agree with all of the restrictions. In fact, if you even want to buy McDonalds toys you have to buy them on Ebay because they don't sell them anymore due to some extreme views of advocacy groups for a healthier childhood. The FTC has been hitting Kids content with fines for years so this is nothing new folks. It just took them a while to recognize how powerful Youtube has become.

One thing I want to make clear is that the big channels and companies like Pocket Watch will be pretending to be standing up for Youtube kid content creators. Make no mistake they will be taking their top clients like Ryan Toysreview who have already earned close to a billion dollars and getting them through this crisis. The rest of us will be left with nothing. Ryan Toysreview wants to get amnesia about their content and decision making that helped them propel past everyone else and now pretend that they want to make educational content now that they have built their billion dollar empire. The FTC needs to be made keenly aware of this situation and they have an obligation to hit some content creators with a big fine as well. Don't get me wrong, there are a few big channels that did things right and deserve to get part of the 100 million fund that Google is providing. Pocket Watch and Ryan Toysreview know how serious this is because their statement came straight from a lawyer.

Who is a pocket watch?
I thought that fund is to make original content with YouTube not give it away to big channels.
