Make a website for $4.18

worst deal ever, on wix you can:

remove ads

20GB of storage

a domain (you get it free if you pay more)

shopping cart

a favicon

free hosting (indie developers use this all the time)

google analytic

the best support ever

professional reviewer for your page

listings to popular places (yellow page, facebook, twitter, etc.)

so ya you miss out on a great deal

Yeah but that doesn't include the domain name and e-mail. Which essentially I have right now. Right now I don't have a website I just have a fancy e-mail and a domain and wouldn't have either with Wix. I already got free hosting and I'm pretty sure virb has most of those features like the storage, shopping cart, analytics and good support. I would have to pay $111 a year to get a "free" domain name with my site, and usually when sites include a free domain name (I know this is true with squarespace) you can't use it as a redirect like I did. For $4 a month on Wix I would still have to purchase a domain and there would be ads. And I'm getting all that and more, $4 for a whole year. Pretty much all the features you listed are things you can only get from the premium version of wix, (they don't give you 20gb of storage or no ads for free.) and there is no way you anything on Wix that will come close to $4 a year. Actually all the things things you listed like professional site review, and the great customer service would cost over $300 a year! All I get for free from Wix is the tools to build and host an ad filled site with .wix.com address which is not bad but I think I did much better.

I personally like EnveraHost (cheaper vs. Hosting24) and Hosting24, they get the job done. Reliable hosts. :)

For mail clients, Zohoo is alright (in my opinion). I use a desktop client, for Mac OS X, called Unibox (I really love it's interface). I also like Thunderbird, very good mail client.

Nice - a pretty cheap find :) And always nice to have a custom mail and domain ;)
How much will it all cost you after the first year though?

I don't know. Virb costs $10 a month if I want to continue with them, the e-mail will still be free and the domain with coupon code and security I'm estimating around $10 for the year. But if I'm still a student next year I could probably switch to squarespace and their cheapest plan would be $4 a month if I was a student. So it would be about ~$60 a year. But if I don't need a website (which as others pointed out, I don't) and I still don't have a lot of money or subscribers after a year I'll probably just keep the e-mail and have the domain re direct to my YouTube like I'm doing right now.[DOUBLEPOST=1419721869,1419721758][/DOUBLEPOST]I mainly did this for the e-mail and because it was fun and cheap and I am currently bored and have sore throat so I can't go out and do things. I'm playing around with virb right now and building my website.

Makes sense :) Is it through goDaddy you are redirecting?

I'm not sure when this person registered a domain from godaddy but you are looking at a lot more. You are looking at $2.50 for the first year and then an addition $14.99 for the second year. And yes, to get the $2.50 price you have to sign up for 2 years. Email ($4.00) and Protection ($8.00) is an additional $12.00! She gave a site where you can get email for free though.

Yeah. But I used a coupon code I found online. The coupon code gave me the protection for only $1 a year and then the domain name ended up being $3 and then some mandatory fee was 18 cents. I got the e-mail through a different site for free. Coupon codes are great just search google and you will find a ton! I think the site I used was retail me not.

So did you not have to pay for the 2nd year?
