Make a website for $4.18

CoolMoo5

I Love YTtalk
I've been wanting to do this for a while I researched it all out so finally did it.
All it took was about an hour and $4.18.

1. Domain name and domain protection security
  • $4.18 from GoDaddy.com good for one year (Thanks to a coupon code)
  • The cost includes security which hides information in directories This is highly important!!
  • Be sure to find the best coupon code because only one per order

2. Professional e-mail address (username@yourwebsite.com)
  • Free! from zoho.com (apparently all other sites you have to pay, even Google apps is $5 a month)
  • I only have one e-mail but I have the option for up to five
  • They have multiple plans but I obviously used the free one
  • Zoho mail apps downloaded on phone and tablet for free too.

3. Website Hosting, web building tools and more
  • Free!! from virb.com (its like square-space) (Free because of Student discount)
  • To get the student discount you must use your .edu e-mail
  • It is only good for one year so after that you have to pay
  • Everything is free except a domain name fortunately for me I already got one for less then $5 (see above)
  • SquareSpace also has a student discount but it's 50% off and not free
  • I didn't actually do anything with this yet, so now I feel stupid for activating when I haven't used it yet

So currently my website redirects to my YouTube channel, but if I ever want to I have all the tools to make a super cool website. Basically for $4.18 I got a a domain name, a custom e-mail address(es), web hosting, site designer tools and more. The domain name, the site builder tools and everything is good for one year. Not a bad use of $4.18 if you ask me.

That's great! It's good you found the student discounting too. I've got a couple of sites myself and I always get my domain names from godaddy. I do create my own sites too and found that rshosting.com is pretty good for hosting them

True but would you need that ? (depending on how many subscribers you have) I dont think it would be worth it unless you have a really good fanbase around 100k subs +

I guess she probably doesn't need it but just feels good to have a domain name even though it's just a redirect. And for that price as well, it's worth it I'd say.

I don't need it. But I wanted a professional e-mail address because it just seem really cool to have. And I wouldn't do any of this if was was expensive but hey for less $5 for a whole year why not? I also write poetry, so I could make a website of poetry or anything else want if I don't want to make a website for my YouTube channel. There is no way I do any of this if it was more money. I'm glad I'm good at finding things for cheap.

I suppose so then, i suppose $5 isnt that bad off something, but I suppose really it wouldnt matter the price when you are in that sub range as you would im guessing be partnered up with someone by then and able to afford stuff like that.

Thats awesome for you!
Ive always wondered how making a website would work, Think it may be a bit to confusing for me :p

I don't know about making the actual website, but for me buying the domain name, redirecting it to my YouTube and setting up the e-mail it only took about an hour. Maybe making the website will be confusing I don't know because I didn't do any of that.

worst deal ever, on wix you can:

remove ads

20GB of storage

a domain (you get it free if you pay more)

shopping cart

a favicon

free hosting (indie developers use this all the time)

google analytics

the best support ever

professional reviewer for your page

listings to popular places (yellow page, facebook, twitter, etc.)

so ya you miss out on a great deal

I've never tried Virb, but if you are a student I would definitely give it a try. If you have any knowledge of html coding, I would look into building a website based on WordPress. Yes you will have to learn more coding but it isn't very difficult if you take the time to learn it.

PS: I don't think a website will help you if you don't have a big audience.
