Losing the motivation...

I feel unmotivated a lot of times. I feel like I should be farther along in my channel by now, and I put a Sh!t ton of effort in it and when I get barely any views, or barely any comments I feel like, why am I doing this? Why even make videos if no one cares? And I also feel like, (I mean I guess I am biased) that my content is so much better than a lot of other people's content that has no editing, terrible lighting, boring content, but they have like millions of subscribers. Like, all that makes me feel unmotivated. Anyway, I am still chugging along, so NO, you are not alone darling.

I realized that this Monday was Blue Monday. There is no specific scientific evidence, but Blue Monday is the worst depressing day of the year. It's not the suicidal nature of it, but it is actually the lack of motivation to do anything.

Maybe take a subject in your area of expertise that has been really popular elsewhere on YT, and do your own video based on that same subject (without plagurising, of course). One really popular video will obviously lead to views on your others.

Sometimes it's good to take a break to build up your drive to create every once in a while. I'll take some days to be unproductive, which then inspires me to push twice as hard for the next few days. If you do however take a break, I encourage you to make a little announcement video that you are doing so, so that your subscriber base doesn't get the feeling that you quit.
i had to take a break for wile and now im back better then ever

Iv been through the exact same thing man. Fell into a rut and did not have the energy or motivation to make anymore vidoes. Like you said it felt like I was forcing myself to make videos.

What made it a little easier for me was playing some games with the recording stuff off for a change, just a break to let me game myself and do things myself before jumping back into it. Maybe your just burned out of making videos and just for a couple of days need to relax and stay off YouTube for a day or two.

Just checked out your channel and you're really funny! The main reason I headed over there was to see how many videos you put out on a weekly basis, and it looks like it's daily [EDIT: okay, up to two a day four days a week. Still a lot!]. This could be what's behind it? Rather than take a full break you could drop down to two times a week, three times, once - whatever works best for you. You might just need to find a good rhythm - daily videos are really, really hard to keep up with. Personally, I tried it for a couple of weeks over Christmas and it left me feeling exactly as you are now - burnt out, demotivated, fed up, like it was a slog and I was forcing myself through it. Things go wrong with editing, but with daily uploads there's practically no wiggle room for that, so of course you get stressed.

Because of this, I strongly, strongly recommend you maybe drop down to three videos a week at first, maybe more later if you need to, just to try it. Obviously let your subscribers know, same as if you were going on a break, but instead of going on a break and potentially losing some of those subscribers you've worked so hard for, you can be making four videos a week and queuing one for the following week so you have something to fall back on.

At that point, you can take a break for a day or two, or even more, if you're not feeling it, but nobody else will spot it. And if it's all still too much, you can take a proper hiatus then.

Hope it all works out the best for you man!

It can be very hard. I sometimes have small periods why I lose a little motivation when filming or editing. However i still have the joy and enthusiasm to carry on because I really do enjoy creating content. Anything you do in life will have it's down days or periods it's how you manage that. The best thing is not to take too much on. Think what good you have around you and maybe take a small break and return refreshed.

I've uploaded daily for 3 solid months now, and sometimes it's tough going. The moment it becomes a chore rather than enjoyment is the moment I step back.

The problem is, with 1,200+ subscribers and nearly 100,000 views in those 3 months, I feel obligated to continue providing content for the folk who expect daily videos. Even dropping to one every 2 or 3 days might help take the workload off though.

I tend to record a week's worth of videos in 2-3 days, and then don't do any Youtube stuff (excluding replying to comments) for the other 4 days in the week. That can be good to keep things fresh, too.
