Live com or commentate after edit

I had a look around the forums and couldn't find what I was looking for so thought I would start a new thread.
I want to make fifa videos (cos that's a game I can actually play). but was wondering should I do it live commentary or should I add it in after the edit all help appreciated.

I think it depends on what type of commentary you want to give. If you wanna film you reactions oroffer tips and stuff I'd go for live commentary. But if you want to give your opinions on an aspect of the game or show something specific, then I'd say do it afterwards.

If you're playing someone online it'd be cool to record your reactions while providing insightful commentary. You'll have the best of both worlds because you'll be talking on the down time and exploding with excitement/frustration on the next.[DOUBLEPOST=1423233246,1423233102][/DOUBLEPOST]I'd also recommend asking forum member @Fezstar for a few tips as I know he records some FIFA stuff :P
 
thanks for the reply the only problem im haing is when I do it live and I start to cut the video using adobe premiere how do I do this without cutting my voice part way through a sentence I know it sounds silly but I am new to this.
 
There are many shortcuts to do it, though you could just right click the footage, and click "unlink" That'll unlock the audio and video. I'd suggest using a different program to record, so that way you can have a solid audio file. Below are my steps for making a gameplay video!

I start by opening up OBS, and Audacity (I'll be leaving the facecam out of this). I usually like to start recording audio first, and then I'll hop in-game and press the hotkey to start recording the game. Once there, I'll want to sync up the programs by saying something like "Go!" and then moving/clicking on something in the game to show that's where I said the word "Go!" That way, after I'm finished recording, I can find where the audio peaks from my command, and have a visual for the game to see where I place the audio.
 
With live commentary you need to cut the video around what you're saying more with what's actually happening on the video.

I think that's what you mean? You might have to be more specific.
 
To me it's a matter of when are you more creative, entertaining etc. If your video are better when you do live comments then do it live :)

So yeah I basically do a mixture of both, if you study some big Fifa YouTubers in depth you'll find that it goes down really well.
For example, in the video you know the opponent is about to take 7 shots at you, you can mute the audio before the clips start, do a voice over, then play the original audio that was recorded after your voice over finishes!
As @LyfeWithDragons said, the best way to do it is to unlink the footage, this basically seperates the audio & video from the original clip onto different layers which makes for easier editing!

I prefer to do post-production commentary, so I can also cut out the boring parts
 
I prefer to do my commentary while I'm recording the game play. But maybe if you wanna be able to explain your techniques of what your playing better maybe adding some later on might be able to get everything you want in the video. Lots of people do it both ways. I watch guys that get League recordings from people just so they will do funny commentary over them. That's pretty cool.
