Let's talk 'Small YouTubers'...

Let's face facts, YouTube has changed dramatically in recent years, giving the little guy, like yourself next to no chance to be found or heard. What's your stance on the way YouTube has changed? Point out some specific things you'd like changed :) Let's start a discussion and help grow this site too to how it once was, because if we can all band together & help one another, who knows...

It's about creating content that people actually want to watch. Usually, you get really big by either being really funny or being the first to post gameplay of a new game.

Examples:

1) FrankieonPCin1080p - DayZ / Battlefield 3
2) JackFrags - DayZ / Battlefield 3
3) Daithi De Nogla - Black Ops 2 / GTA 5
4) SeaNanners - CoD

I think it takes more time now, but new you tubers can be found after awhile of work. It's not impossible, but it did get harder to be found.
I've found that unfortunately it's almost by total luck/chance to be found. Most peoples attention span has alot to do with it aswel... people seem to be so picky with what they watch now... Hence, what i meant by people not really branching out to new things. But then again, if you try harder, collab with the right people, or do your part to the site that will help others, including your viewers in some way, then things could look up for you :)

I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing, it almost filters good content from videos that people that don't have what it takes to make it. Still, I regret not starting my channel sooner.

Well with billions of channels out there it's hard to be found. If I search 'Street Fighter gameplay' I'm not exactly gonna check page 37 on the search results, if you know what I mean.

They should kinda do like they did before where the home page showed whatever recently uploaded videos were at the moment. Sure it's still difficult to make it on the home page, but at least you have more of a chance.

Also helps if the 'related videos' or 'you might also like' videos were actually related to what your video was about instead of trying to push the big ones. My videos have nothing to do with smosh or iJustine, so they shouldn't be reccomended alongside my video. Nor should non-gamers be told to 'oh btw check out Pewdiepie'.

Agreed! Although, i have flicked through to the double digit pages just to see what's there and if it's interesting or not :) Most of the time, i'll find something good, and if it's good enough for others to know about it, i'll let others know about it :)

If you're keen to know more about what i'm talking about, jump on over into the "Collabs & Meet-ups" forum and look for the 'SHOUTOUT' thread i made.

It just means you need to work hard and keep going. If you aren't willing to put you all into it, then don't expect anything in return. Sure there are some big Youtubers out there, but they worked and kept going. Just like anyone who is famous they put years into it that you may not know about.
