Lets plays are dead?

Dead,RIP with the exeption of channels like Rad Brad and those with the niche for it most viewers have less then 12 minute attention span to one thing soo recommend highlights or short clips of gameplay thats important.

Explain what you mean haha.

Look at many viral videos which get constant views, most are timeless, many are random cute, funny or are real-life violence or tragic events captured on video.

I'm not saying its a career move or anything but these things get a lot of eyes on the videos.

I don't think let's plays are dead, far from it. The reason there are so many is because it's so popular.

I think editing goes a long way. There are many let's plays out there with just simple editing that just involves cuts so I make a conscious effort to add more to my videos with effects, sounds, music and graphics.

There's also many videos out there where the person is just playing the game and not really providing much in the way of a commentary. Whether it's a regular lets play, a tutorial or guide you have to show enthusiasm, passion and have a sense of humour. Just look at the big gaming channels, whether you like their humour or not they all have a big comedic elements. But ultimately, personality is what wins people over.

Youtube is flooded with gaming channels so it's definitely harder for us small timers to get out there.

As someone who use to do let`s plays on my old channel. Let`s play are a bit well repetitive nowadays, I just find of pain to watch through most of time. I prefer a review over a let`s play any day for me that is.

I had enormous success doing Dark Souls 2. nearly broke 10k views on every single episode and over 20k on quite a few of them. But that's because I knew the game inside and out before I did my walkthrough of it. I was informative and showcased many of the mechanics the player would need to learn to use to beat the game. Honestly if I really wanted the views I'd go back and do the same for DS1, but I want to play games I haven't played.

My point is that if you have a game that you know a ton about, and know how to explain it, do a "walkthrough" for it. I'm currently doing Inquisition and I'm finding it harder to be as informative as I was with DS2, mostly because I haven't played through the game entirely. I'm still going to do my walkthroughs, but I love doing those kinds of videos, I don't do them for the growth or anything. If you don't enjoy it, then don't do it. If you expect instant success from it, chances are you don't need to do it. Do it for the love of doing it and that way you wont be disappointed.

I've found that guides/tutorials bring more viewers than LPs. Maybe do that?

I have a lot of luck with my mod showcases.

I agree with this - tutorials/guides/reviews work far better in my experience. If you do tutorials for games that you're "let's playing", then even better. supplement your let's play with glitch videos, funny montages and tutorials/guides, and you'll magically find more people watching your let's play too. It worked for me with both both NHL and XCOM

I actually did this yesterday, funny little short clip of DA:I from the next part of my walkthrough. Too soon to tell if it helped though!

I'm focusing on something a bit more niche for DA:I - I'm going to be putting out plenty of multiplayer footage and character builds, weapon guides etc
You have a very good voice, I'd love to work with you on a project I'm going to be working on later. It's just a little bit of voice acting. I can't pay anything but I can get you a small bit of exposure.
