January earnings down 70-80%? Why so low?

Wow I'm glad I spotted this thread. My earnings dropped by roughly 75-80% this month and I thought I did something really wrong Its unfortunate for everyone but at least we are in it together

My problem which most people are passing is that January hasn't been so bad but the last few days (almost a week now) have been a lot worse.

Same here - its quite a hit after doing so well throughout December!
Had my best month ever last month in terms of views, earnings and subscribers etc, so it makes Jan seem even more worse!!

Yep, same for me, my earnings are down quite a bit after having my best months with November and December.

Surprisingly, this month has been my best month so far for views, and it doesn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon, so that's good news.

Anyone noticed an improvement over the last week or so?. My month will end better than expected. RPM is way less than Dec, but views are up so it evens itself out.

It has nothing to do with the weather. It has to do with the general advertising cycle involving the vast majority of the buying public being tapped out on discretionary spending after Christmas. It takes a couple of months before people get back to normal after spending so much on the holiday season, which is why advertisers tone their campaigns back during that time.

Does this also impact YouTube views? I didn't get much success during the whole month unfortunately. I barely gained some subscribers.

Yes the last two weeks were very good. The first two were disastrous. Overall not so bad as for January.

My RPM was bad for the first 2 weeks of January. The last 2 weeks have been much better. Overall in January, I'd say my RPM has been about 30% less than my annual average from 2014 and about 40% less than my December 2014 average.
