So either it's different for my channel for some reason or it's different because I'm in the USA.[DOUBLEPOST=1433470509,1433470128][/DOUBLEPOST]I just checked another channel of mine and it said the same thing for those songs. I'd love to hear from someone in the US who has had the “Monetize my video. This is my cover of a song written by somebody else. Learn more” appear next to their cover song.

I really do not know what to say.
I guess you do not have strikes?
It will be really very strange if there is such a huge difference between US and Japan or just between any two countries in which YouTube program is active!
Just for the recored we are not any legacy partners or stuf like this.

No strikes on either of those channels....I am eligible for all the features that come with having a clean channel without strikes as well. I even checked a brand new channel I started and it was the same thing. You cannot monetize this. Maybe it's just the interface. I know that from the help page it says that you cannot share in monetization until your video is content ID'd by the original record company. Then you will have text that says that you can monetize it. Maybe it's just a difference in how it's handled by Youtube in each country. Which song were you able to monetize?

We monetize only one Adele song but this was a real cover (vocals only).
In general I do not intend to use any of these "Eligible for revenue sharing" songs because of "Copyright owners can change their policies or take action on your video that differs from what's described here." It is simply too risky.

PS. I suspect YouTube Japan has some special deal with Sony music and/or some other big music companies and that's why we can use so many songs and share revenue with the copyright owners.

Yeah like I said, I think we can here as well but it just happens in a different order. We have to wait for the video to be content ID'd by the record company and then a link will appear beside it alerting us that we can monetize the cover. I'm going to try it with a random song just to see if it works.

Sorry - I didn't know they are so few. I just clicked on "gangnam style" at the very first page and it was "eligible for revenue sharing". I didn't search further.

In anyway we did a cover of Adele "Rolling in the deep" and it was OK for revenue sharing (may be 25-30% of what normally we make of such movie).[DOUBLEPOST=1433469561,1433469270][/DOUBLEPOST]BTW I went back and from the top 6 songs at first page 3 were eligible for revenue sharing:

I hope we see tha same thing. I am accessing the page from Japan. I think for US and Japan the rules must be the same or at least very similar.

Where are you seeing this list?

I clicked on the link. I don't see anything that says revenue sharing. See??

That's what we were discussing above. Apperantly you are not allowed to ad revenue share in US but you are allowed (many of these songs) in Japan or our channel is very special!
I will try to take a screenshot and upload when I go home. I know it sounds a little bit incredible.

well that makes no sense. My friend in the USA uploaded a cover of Gangnam Style and the ad revenue sharing was allowed.[DOUBLEPOST=1433501711,1433501624][/DOUBLEPOST]

I even selected Japan at the bottom of YouTube and the thing still isn't showing up. A YouTuber I know says 98 percent of songs in the world is enabled for revenue sharing
