Is reddit a good way to promote my channel?

If I use reddit, are people gonna see my stuff or is it just not worth it? They can hate all they want, can I get good views from reddit?

Reddit can be a really good tool if you properly know how to use it. I would say that I'm fairly savvy with social media and am decent at promoting a few videos here and there if I really want to, but I don't think I would ever try Reddit solely because the Reddit audience is either a hit or a miss. They'll either love videos, hate them, or ignore them entirely. I rarely even comment on Reddit because it takes an awfully large amount of time for me to coherently word something that won't get me downvoted into oblivion. It's such a particular website that it really depends whether or not you know how to utilise it.

I would say if you think you know how the people who use Reddit think, you can make some really good views off of there, but if you don't know the exact way to promote a video, it could backfire. It's a stressful website.

I'm totally scared and put off by that site.. I can take mounds of hate as well.. but I think I'd just get so lost there ha.. is there any other sites to use to promote other than social media accounts?

@Madiisuun will people see my stuff there at least? Even if I'm completely new to it?
Usually, yes. The way that Reddit works is that you can view the newest posts to a subreddit, and then if you like them, you can upvote them to the main page of the subreddit. People will see it when it's in the new section, but if it doesn't get a lot of traction and upvotes, it likely will just get buried.

I would say that social media is definitely your best bet, but there are lots of Small YouTuber blogs and Twitters that you can likely get to shout out your videos to other small YouTubers, and I would say that even just being on YTTalk helps you quite a bit as well.

I'm in a few fb groups with family vloggers but that's it other then here.. I want to see the new collab app but it's not on android =/

Reddit is totally hit and miss, there's a few subreddits that work, and there's a large group that just won't accept you. In larger subreddits, you'll just get lost in there so they won't even see you post to do anything about it. There's the few people that get noticed in the large subreddits however, so it's a game of luck.

Strangely enough, my experience with Reddit has been mostly positive.

None of my videos went amazingly viral but some have done ok-ish. For example, my bitcoin video is now on page #1 of the r/bitcoin subreddit, the r/btc one and r/cryptocurrency (where I'm on position #1; it's a smaller subreddit though, only 20k members but still). If you visit those subreddits now, you'll see it (please upvote if you do :) ), if you read this post tomorrow or later on, I doubt my video will still be there.

But the content you're promoting has to be relevant to the subreddit in question.

Otherwise, the reddit promotion can definitely backfire.

In my case, the response has been positive. On my fractional reserve banking video however, I did have a troll comment asking me why one of the characters is black... wtf?!? That has been an exception though. For the most part, it seems people liked my work and the comments have been civil.

But again, make sure you're promoting stuff people will find interesting.

I promoted a bitcoin video on bitcoin-related subreddits, good idea.

I promoted a fractional reserve banking video too, also a good idea because I knew this is a popular topic among crypto enthusiasts.

Some of my other videos aren't as relevant. Those would definitely be hit or miss, more likely miss :)
