Is reddit a good place to promote videos?

All I have to say is don't wind up in cringe. Whatever you do, DON'T WIND UP IN CRINGE.

Have you heard of Gbay99? He is a youtuber that makes some league of legends instructional videos, he used reddit to share his videos, and he grew his subscriber base very quickly through that, he went for something like 1k subs to 50k in 2-3 months if i am not wrong. However, i should warn that everything the people here said about reddit is true, and you should be careful about how you do it, by the way Gbay have a very nice video about how to grow on youtube and he tells that reddit story himself on the video

I would post that video link here but it seems i can't put links here so try to search on youtube for: How to be Successful on Youtube gbay99

It should be the first video

i've put most of my videos on, and i always get anywere between 10-50 views, just put it in like 2 subreddits relating, and i have never had any problems with trolls etc, but the way i see it, your better off having 500 people watch it and hate it, then 5 people who watch it and like it thts my 2 cents, reddit is good, i put some stuff on funnyjunk, got maybe 1 or 2 dislikes on my videos, but thts it, i did put 23 videos on there so the views are well worth it in my po

It's really difficult to have your video show up on Reddit. It has already be of viral quality (which is hard to manufacture). I wouldn't bother trying it myself, but focus on the quality of your videos. If they are good, they will build a fan base over time and one of them may just go viral.

Be patient and make cool s**t. :)

To quote the "Reddiquette":
Feel free to post links to your own content (within reason). But if that's all you ever post, and it always seems to get voted down, take a good hard look in the mirror — you just might be a spammer. A widely used rule of thumb is the 9:1 ratio, i.e. only 1 out of every 10 of your submissions should be your own content.

As known, Reddit has several "subreddits" where one can post content related to various topics, so one could try to post a video in one of the subreddits dedicated to the video's theme, which may do well if your video is of good quality. The big difference between Reddit and other medias is that there's not only a "like" button, or upvote as it's called there, but the option to downvote. Anything not meeting Reddit's standards will get downvoted to oblivion by the hivemind, and there's generally a below-average attitude towards self-promotion. You should also be an active commenter and post other content too, or else you're easily labelled a spammer.

But yes, if you hit the niche correctly and make some excellent content, it's absolutely possible to get your work promoted there. I've done it a few times, gathering about 30-200 upvotes on some videos and over 800 upvotes on a post linking to a video. Just note; Reddit is a tough crowd to satisfy.

I'eve never used it. Anyone got experience?

Hey Freddy,

I've been promoting my videos on Reddit for the past month or so, and I have to tell you - It is AMAZING.

It's not easy because most Redditors are cynical bastards and you need to prepare yourself emotionally to be insulted a lot, but for any insult you will get (And you'll get plenty, trust me) you'll also get TONS of views.

In 3 weeks of occasional posting there, I was able to get over 30,000 views to my videos.

In addition, I have to admit that I fell in love with this website, and am also surfing it on a regular basis.
Recommended places to place your videos in:

r/videos
r/youtube
r/funny

r/gaming (If you're a gamer)

r/blog (If you're a blogger)

Good luck!

I post my videos there and sometimes it does good, sometimes it does bad but I can see that it generates a few views atleast!

The thing about reddit is that the how the response is when a video is first posted determines how likely it'll be recieved. There are a lot of people who just downvote everything they see marked with "let's play" or even a YouTube video, and with 0 score people won't see it. If you manage to get say 10 upvotes fast, people are much more likely to watch it.

My general experience have been one or two videos that have been recieved well due to initial upvotes, but mostly they get downvoted within seconds of being posted even if it is the relevant subreddit and the rules say it's okay to post them.
