Is It Wise To Give Your Subscribers A Nickname?

So I've been making videos for 2yrs now and have 247 awesome subscribers. I've been calling my viewers "Rathlubians" at the start of my videos. Is this a good idea? I want to make my viewers part of a family but I don't want to sound self-important.

What do you guys think? Do you give your subscribers nicknames?

I say don't do it. Let them coin their own phrase, or pick up on something that naturally comes out of your mouth. Basically by giving them a name without choice you are deciding they are fanatics of your videos. It just feels a bit cult-ish to me.

Well, CrazyShootin calls his subscribers literally "minions" and he has almost 40k subs haha.
Though he doesn't mean the word in a negative way and his videos are hilarious. xP

But if you researched back it's likely you'd find that it happened naturally, rather than him saying from day 1 'These people are Minions, that is what you must call yourselves'

If you have 40k subs then you're definitely doing something right and probably have a good group of fans who look forward to your content and aren't afraid to show it. If you have a lot of subs then it can work in your favour because you're interacting with them and bringing them into 'part of the gang'.

Hmmm I kinda agree with some of the people here I think as your subscribers have a mind of their own i think they will probably come up with something of their own (if anything at all). I say just let it happen ^_^

Yeah it indeed wasn't from day 1. xP But I just wanted to point out that even "minions" doesn't have to be negative, haha.
