I'm gonna be straight up honest, if you've actively produced content for six years, and you still struggle to get above 100, then your niche is already filled.
If you truly want growth, think about what makes YOU subscribe to a channel, for me it's when I find content that I really enjoy, and that I can't get elsewhere.

Yeah, I haven't really been too active the whole time. And to be perfectly honest, my old videos were all absolute crap, I would delete most of them if they weren't the most successful videos on my channel. If only I could take the 6000 views off of a crappy video with terrible quality in audio, video, and commentary, and get some of the views onto a video where I actually have decent equipment and less terrible commentary, I might be able to get somewhere.

Really though, the only time I seem to gain subscribers is when I'm not making videos, there was a time when I went ages without uploading a video and somehow gained like 40 subscribers, and then when I do upload videos they start unsubscribing. I'm thinking my commentary voice might just be so unbearable to the general public that I couldn't get anywhere with it under any circumstances.

I thought of another video series I can do that doesn't involve me doing commentary, but it takes like 10-20 hours of work and research for a video under a minute long, and I doubt anyone would watch it anyway, but I'm too far in the process of making it to give up now.

YT's only 9 years old and it's already on it's way to overcoming traditional media outlets like TV and movies.

All I can say is be where the audience is.

I'm very excited this thread got so many responses, and I as most of you think it is not dying but I was just asking :P[DOUBLEPOST=1398034697,1398034536][/DOUBLEPOST]
Within the last year Youtube went from being my hobby to my full-time job, I'm almost at 1/4 mill subscribers. Youtube is so far from dying, it's growing more than ever before.
Getting 1 mil subscribers is easier now than it was 5 years ago, I don't know why all theese people claim that "oh all the big people are lucky they got on the train early", hell I bet people like nigahiga provided entertainment for a VERY long time with little to no gain before seeing an audience.
Congrats for getting all of those subs man, any suggestions on how to get found, other than spamming peoples ig's :P

Youtube is in it's prime. I can't even imagine an internet without it. And besides, if Youtube died, what would happen to us?

I rarely watch TV these days. But it was on earlier today and I saw a commercial for a YouTube channel. I think things are just getting started. (=

Its only going to start dying if/when TV networks get their claws into the site and try and conform it to their ancient model.

Make a niche of videos that noone else makes.

YouTube is definitely not dying it's just becoming more saturated. Like what others already said you need to find a niche and make it look professional and well polished
