Is it necessary to show your face in the videos?

Hi guys! Coco_milk here.

I have had this question for a long time.
Does it really make a difference if your face appears in the videos or not? (Virtual Youtuber doesn't count.)
If you do not show your face in the video, it is said to weaken your bond with the audience.
However, not showing faces might also raise the audience's curiosity.

So, what do you guys think?
 
I think it can really depend on your genre. There are a lot of channels that you never see who makes them. For a history channel, not so important. For daily vlogs, maybe more important.
 
 
I suppose it depends on what kind of videos you make. I guess if you're a gamer you could get away with hidiing it but I think for most channels seeing that sweet, sweet face is going to be necessary. If your personality is part of the channel in any way then you probably are going to have to let the audience see who you are. I'm sure there are successful exceptions out there but it is called YouTube afterall - it takes a while to get the confidence but go ahead and show off them pearly whites!
 
As for me, I like to see the real emotions of a person who says something. It`s really important if you have a daily vlog
