Is a intro necessary?

I think it is always good to brand your videos! Just make sure it's not to long! Those intro's that drag on are horrible.

I personally hate intros, but if you want one, keep it less than 4 seconds.
And dont forget an outro! Those are very important to link viewers to your other videos!

Yeah, they are important. But intros longer than 11 seconds seem to be boring.

IF i had to give you a yes or not answer, I would say that no it is not necessary.

I hate intros.
The only one I like is the Game Grumps one. It's short and catchy.

just keep it super short nothing too long. I learned that people get annoyed by long intros no matter how well pieced together they are.

I always start

"Hey guys hows its goin, PepperBeef2Spicy here, bringing you some *X*" -> video

and then outro with "Thank you guys for watching, and i'll see you guys later"

sometimes i'll leave with an additional "have a good day" or what I will be doing the next video (if its a series). Short, sweet and to the point, this is one of those things where IMO thats the only way to go.

Is it necessary?

technically no, but I think its only beneficial.
