Investing in a New Camera

Right now, I use a point and shoot. It does the job, but part of me wants to start thinking about new cameras.

The problem is, I know nothing about cameras.

Things I dislike about my camera and would enjoy having in the new one:
-I can't flip the viewfinder - it would be really nice to be able to frame myself while filming
-My camera stops filming at the 10 minute mark, so if I'm filming a long video, I have to notice, and restart recording
-As it is a point and shoot, I cannot adjust the focus etc (not that I understand how any of that works, but still)

I'd like something with good video quality, obviously HD.

What camera would you guys suggest? What do you use?

I'd like to keep it reasonably priced... we're not so fancy over here :)

The Canon 700D is going pretty strong in the market right now, Full HD, the camera flips out fits your description very well. This is currently going for around 400 pounds however the 600D works just as well (what we are currently using) for a lot cheaper. We got our body for about 250 pounds. For a lens I'd recommend a prime lens. Maybe the 50mm one :) A good SD card with a large memory would be ideal too!

Our set up is a Canon 600D with a 50mm f/1.8 lens and a 32GB SD card. You could get all that for under 400 pounds

Thank you! I'll look into it :)

Have to agree with this setup! Pretty good, and has a lot of options and with this you can invest with in an external mic, and have a lot of fun!

I looked it up.. seems like it'll cost me about $750 Canadian Dollars. Going to wait until Christmas time to see if it goes on sale!

Sounds like a good deal, also there is Cyber monday! :) Not sure if you get that in CA :X
Ohhh true. It's not as big of a deal as in the United States, but it trickles over a bit. Hmmm.

Of course, if I bought an expensive new camera, I would probably have to start uploading more than once a month again :P (I've been quite the lazy YouTuber lately)

There a reason for that? :O Just not feeling it?

I have a question regarding gaming channels... is a top notch camera even necessary, or would a good webcam do?

I would say a webcam is fine unless you want to do a gaming show that requires very high quality! :-) I have the logitech C920 and I love it!
