Intro debate...

When we started doing our Kid Candy Reviews, it was an unknown commodity. I didn't want to start with a cold open of two kids sitting at a desk, because that would be boring. So we made a catchy theme song and an action-packed intro of nothing but money shots. I think that intro was instrumental in getting the show on its feet.

But after 6 months or so, we'd built up enough of a familiar audience that they didn't need to see that same intro over and over again, so we shortened it to about 2 seconds. Our analytics showed that it decreased viewer abandonment so I think we made the right decision!

I dont have one because I like the viewer to be hit with the content straight away, but it is definitely good for branding your channel.

We've been using the cold open variation, leading into a quick 2-3 second intro, just introducing the topic of the week. I haven't really asked what people think about it though - for those that have seen our stuff, does that work? Or do you think I should also just go straight into the meat of the interview?

In general though, I do see some peoples' intros last like 10-15 seconds, which which is overkill - we can read your short username in about 1/6 of that time!

Yours works great. I when you're interviewing people about specific subject its necessary to have a short intro. While I dont have an actual intro I always have the topic of the video I'm talking about within the first sentence or two.

Love you, Rick <3
