Intro debate...

I Love YTtalk
I'm curious to know your opinions on this...I noticed ALOT of yotubers will have like a 10-15 intro before they start their video and its usually something creative with good music and after that's done they start their vlog or tutorial or whatever it is....

The more and more I think about it, it really is just 10-15 of time wasted because I feel like you are wasting the viewers time and they just want to get straight to the video and see what its about.

Do you find this necessary to have in your videos?

Sometimes the intro is the best part of our video....

As long as the intro introduces you (for one or two seconds with your name or something) or adds some sort of value to the video I think it is fine. 15 seconds of a channel name flashing or something is a waste of the viewers time.

Yeah, if intros are done they should definitely only be around 5 seconds long.

That was one of the few things I disliked about this guy I used to watch who did WWE PPV simulations in the WWE games. His intro was like 30 seconds long and really annoying.

I use an intro for my vlogs because I hope it will liven them up and give a kind of overview of who I am and what I do. It is just 6 seconds long and I use a drum solo background.

I don't have an intro for my mini documentary videos or yacht presentation videos because they are already (hopefully) pretty engaging from the get-go.

Hard to tell if I would get any more or any less views with or without the intro really, but I like it so I'll keep it for now.

Very short intros are good for branding and combined with a watermark help keep piracy at bay, or at least make it a slam dunk case when caught.
