I'd personally wait till the next generation chip, don't remember when they launch..
Both of those CPUs are very good, however if you don't already have one, I'd recommend getting an SSD for your games/os and getting the cheaper of the two CPUs. Will run even better that way!

The way SLI works is that it makes the GPU's almost combine powers, as they work together.

I understand what sli is, I just don't understand why it's better than a single more powerful card, the benchmarks aren't that different from two sli 660's that aren't overclocked compared to a 680. I'm getting a 120gb ssd next month. I currently only have a single larger hard drive, mainly bc I was trying to save money when I build my pc. I am looking to start upgrading piece by piece.

Its sort of a way to "spread the load" so to speak. What is better at getting something done, 2 pretty strong guys working together, or one extremely strong, its the 2, because they can perform more tasks at the one time.

What is your current mobo/cpu if you don't mind me asking? I hope that chip doesn't have heat issues like mine. It doesn't overheat at all, but I know these tend to run hotter.

H61m U3S3 and i5-2320. yes it's old with 6950 1GB as a GPU. I think I'll upgrade my gpu once 8xxx comes out then my motherboard and cpu. It runs 40C at idle and runs 50C at load, while GPU runs 40C at idle and 60-73C at load. Philippines is hot right now.

Well, there's a lot of advantage with sli but I prefer single gpu because it's more compatible plus I'm only using one monitor.

Multiple benchmark tests prove that games perform at a higher fps with 2 GPU's in SLI than one more powerful eg. the links Wreckless Eating posted.

Xbitlabs did a 660 SLI test, so you can see the comparison to the 680 (blows it out of the water): http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/graphics/display/geforce-gtx-660-ti-sli.html. There's not a huge difference between the 660 and the 660Ti. The general consensus is that the Ti version isn't worth the extra money because it only performs marginally better.

Well, most games now can utilize 2 or more gpus while some are not and most likely just wasting your rig's energy and giving you much higher electrical bill. What's your temp? And where do you live?

My temps idle about 30-32, load at 45-47 usually when I don't have it overclocked. Overclocked full load is about 75ish, I don't keep it OC'd. I live in the central part of the US.[DOUBLEPOST=1369045527,1369045494][/DOUBLEPOST]
