I want to monetize my videos, but I'm scared to..

Game companies, such as EA, usually have a blanket statement that says you can use their game footage (including audio) for monetization however you please. If you're gaming, you should be fine.

I would stay away from using any copyrighted music. If you need music consistently, get some type of royalty free music service. It might be pricy, but it's worth it if you're investing in your business. That way you can have unique audio, and also not have to worry about content claims. I use AudioBlocks.com and really like it. They had a special that was $99 for a year subscription. In my books, that easily pays for itself if you put it to good use.

Alternatively, there are royalty-free ones too such as incompetech.com. It has a huge library of music, and all you gotta do is to credit the author (Kevin MacLeod himself).

When a video processes, it typically will tell you at the end if your music or images violate copyright. Typically it will say you can publish it, but cannot monotize it. I have a few videos with Zelda music like that and they're fine to stay up, I just cannot monotize those specific videos.

The bigger claims that come in the future are manual claims put in by the company who owns the illegally used material and typically don't hit smaller channels. Like for example, my friend's bf did a spoken Lyric Video and it was fine. Then it got a few hundred thousand views, and the record company who owned the song put a claim against it. If that video never got all those views, the claim would never of happened.
