I need a different schedule for my channel. :/

I'm cutting down on the videos I release. My video quality isn't as good because I rush to make content and making a bunch of content isn't good for new channels. So thinking of doing 2-3 videos per week and then just do walkthroughs of other games.

You're probably not the only one who's using this monumentally bad tactic.
It's quite hard to rank in search results as is, doing several videos a day will make it almost impossible (at least until you get hundreds/thousands views per video).
If you have a LOT of fans, you might get away with this but as a small youtuber, you're shooting yourself in the leg.
i have seen you post this in a few threads. i don't know where you got this bizarre information, i'd love for you to share it

Funny thing about my YouTube experience. I used to do 3 videos a week on a schedule, then I got rid of the schedule and went down to 2 to what it is now. 1 unless I have no time, then it might take 10 days. Sometimes I do post more than once a week. And growth? Faster posting less. Posting less also gets your edit game better, and with that the quality of your videos. So less = more.

Posting once a day? Sure, you can get away with that once you are a big YouTuber and everyone just gobbles up your content. Before that time? Nope...

I'm going to try my schedule for a week and see if it works for me! :D

I agree with everyone. Less = more in the aspect of YouTube. It's kind of a double-edged sword. You want to post lots of videos to show that the channel is healthy, but then the channel will seem spammy, and people don't like spam! And then there is less videos, which can be very good, since you have more time to edit your videos. But it also gives more wait time for your viewers. My advice is going maybe 2 per week and give it some good time to edit videos. Quality vs quantity.

FYI pedals is talking rubbish, uploading once a day will NOT mean its harder to rank its search. its a bizarre piece of information he keeps telling people. i would advise everyone to ignore it.

uploading once a day will never be seen as spammy, thats standard for a lot of genres/niches

if you can only upload 3 times a week then thats perfectly fine also. still keeps your channel busy and won't make people unsubs because they feel the channel is dead. good luck mate

I would say quality over quantity. You need time to create good videos. Don't just rush it, let your videos there for a while to see how people react to it to know how to make the next one better! Don't do too much or you will find yourself being lost somewhere in the process.

1 video ever 2-3 days for us.
Each new video need about 2-3 days to churn through our subs.
Not everyone watches each channel every day and every video they release.
Once you have higher subs, say 10k+, it might make sense to post daily and get decent views.
There is an exception though - that's when you're hitting hot tags. For those sub traffic is not as important, what you're after is search ranking. For those, once a day should be fine.

Is ranking not tied to views? When you upload very often, I feel you're sharing a bunch of views between a lot of videos. With a small channel, the result is a bunch of videos with 20-50 views.

if it was tied to views. then how would a new video ever get found lol

i just wrote a big guide on SEO - found here this is all you need http://yttalk.com/threads/how-to-seo-titles-descriptions-and-tags-full-guide-with-example.223822/

lets take an example. a channel with 100 subs. firstly its wrong to assume that if you upload 1 video and your 100 subs all watch it but if you upload 3 videos each video would get viewed 33 times each. subs will watch what they are interested in. yes i agree overkill is generally not a good thing. 1 a day or less is perfectly fine. once you start regularly uploading 2-3 videos a day you might start to struggle to keep subs because subs don't like getting spammed. nothing to do with rankings

a good title, description and tags are what makes a video get ranked. then analytics starts looking at your viewer retention, for example. i do a youtube search for "big boobies" i get a load of results. i click the top video, if after 10 seconds i realise their is no big boobies in the video i might click off. and if that happens a lot, that video will fall in the rankings. youtube introduced this to stop clickbait title and thumbnails

engagement is also important, likes/dislikes and comments help you rank better because youtube likes engaged viewers. thats why call to actions are important, like and subscribe etc

if lets say two channels upload the same video, same title. same tags, same description. then the channel with more subscribers will usually rank higher. and viewers also have a marginal effect. but that is for a video thats identical in every other way. in reality that does not happen.

so yes. having a smaller channel with a smaller sub base puts you at a disadvantage, but that can be easily overturned with better SEO. the multiple uploading of videos a day thing does not really come into play

hope that explains it better
