I hate my channel

If you do it for fun, a hobby, you do it when you have time to do it and don't worry about it when you don't. But, YouTube does have a way of sucking you in. Especially when your viewership increases and you get more and more positive comments. There is an addiction factor there, 100%. And that can cause for family issues. Take a step back and evaluate.

Okay, you seem to be stuck on the fact that what you're making isn't up to what you think you could. I always go back to this quote by Ira Glass (the host and creator of "This American Life," a fantastic show on NPR and also a podcast. It may be of help:

“Nobody tells this to people who are beginners, I wish someone told me. All of us who do creative work, we get into it because we have good taste. But there is this gap. For the first couple years you make stuff, it’s just not that good. It’s trying to be good, it has potential, but it’s not. But your taste, the thing that got you into the game, is still killer. And your taste is why your work disappoints you. A lot of people never get past this phase, they quit. Most people I know who do interesting, creative work went through years of this. We know our work doesn’t have this special thing that we want it to have. We all go through this. And if you are just starting out or you are still in this phase, you gotta know its normal and the most important thing you can do is do a lot of work. Put yourself on a deadline so that every week you will finish one story. It is only by going through a volume of work that you will close that gap, and your work will be as good as your ambitions. And I took longer to figure out how to do this than anyone I’ve ever met. It’s gonna take awhile. It’s normal to take awhile. You’ve just gotta fight your way through.”

We dont need to motivate you.You need to motivate yourself dude. From reading this thread i see that you want to stop youtube.Thats your choise :)

I'm incredibly sorry for your troubles and especially your sons illness. All I can say my friend is, one day you will die, and this brief spark of life will be over and you won't get another chance. So make sure you do something with it, whether it's youtube, whether it's raising the next generation of rational children or having some positive impact on the world, it's all yours for the taking x

Yea I feel like there is always a dilemma you know. You truly do it because you want to create something, but you also do want people to check out your creation... This really sucks but at the end of the day, try to have fun when making your videos!

I also prioritize family, friends and full time job over YouTube like I do with my other hobbies. I upload about once a month and my channel is growing slowly but steadily. So if you are fine with slow growth than the answer is yes - channels can get away with not uploading that much.
