On that same note, the Tag Explorer of TubeBuddy (available in the free license) is really awesome for figuring out the best phrases and keywords to use as tags.

This is a great reply, it's what I would of said.

sometimes you do get in a rut, i get stuck then have a quick burst in subs then get stuck.
 
You will get past it. I felt the same way too for a while but I finally got past it just keep doing what your doing
 
Getting subscribers is pretty random. I lose some and gain some over time. There is not trick to this method. If your genre is very popular, then you can grow over time much faster than other genres.
