How were your first few months?

Rough in terms of expectations. Got 137 subscribers with heavy promoting and releasing 4 videos. Lots of second-guessing on whether I should continue on with the channel. It continued to grow but still wasn't at the level I wanted. I eventually slowed videos to an almost complete halt before jumping back on it last September. Haven't looked back since.

I'm curious where your channel was after your first year, in terms of subscribers and how much views you got daily. Cuz your analytics in Social Blade is amazing. You started your channel about 11 months before me, and I'd be happy to be where you are even if it took me 3-5 years.

It was pretty exciting watching the numbers slowly go up as I found my feet and figured out what I was doing. It hasn't really lost its appeal yet, and I've been at almost 2 years! Haha.

I'm coming up on my first month and I'm happy with the small but steady growth. The little pang of joy I feel every time I get a new subscriber is pretty awesome.

At the end of 2015, I sat at 7,300 subscribers. I believe views were hovering between 1,000-1,500. In my first 365 days, I reached roughly 14,000 subscribers and about 3,500 views daily. I was really happy with the way things were going starting this year. It just propelled to greater heights not too recently. I would say the first six months of this year was the roughest since the growth was largely created by consistent promoting (which gets really tiresome). Now, the channel is much more self-sustaining.

Really big thanks for the break down. I consider your channel like a big brother to mine, and serves as motivation to me of what's possible if I stay the course.

Well in that case, I'm really curious how you're getting so many views. I know Youtubers with 200k barley able to get 30k through their regular uploads. What's the breakdown of your traffic? Is it mostly from suggested?

The bulk of the views are coming from browse features when YouTube features my content on people's homepage. Recently, a good amount of my videos started hitting heavy browse feature traffic to the point where it raised my overall viewer baseline permanently. It seems like if YouTube's algorithm tests out some of your videos in browse and they do well, they take it to the next level and show even more of your content in browse.

EDIT: Oh, and I fortunately have a great group of subscribers. A large percentage of them come back and watch my new videos pretty persistently.

Personally, its hard but should never expect it to be easy, people are getting hundreds of subs by the hour and it really doesnt bother me, even by me gaining 1 extra subscriber makes me happy, i totally appreciate all the people who take the time out to like, subscribe, share or comment on my channel, i absolutely love it, stay positive, stay consistent and just simply show everyone what you have to offer, everyone is different in there own ways and sometimes its good to watch and learn from other people :)
