How much money do you put into your Youtube channel? (Priority Question)

So I just bought a new webcam for my Youtube channel that was just under $100 bucks, but it gets the job done I almost ended up getting a DSLR but copped out because it wasn't what I needed and because my Youtube channel isn't my first priority (My studio, however is - financially that is).

I was just wondering how much money you guys put into your Youtube channel, whether it be lighting or props! Just interested to know!

Man, I have put a little too much I'm sure. I'd say around $500 in stuff I've bought since I started YouTube, though some is stuff I would've gotten anyway.

Well for my setup? Quite a lot to be fair (the Setup is easily over 3.5k) but specifically for YouTube... Nothing, at least not yet anyways.

Well I've bought a GoPro Hero 3 and Hero 4 Black, a ton of accessories, editing software, a new computer that can handle the graphics requirements, etc. Even without YouTube I would have bought a lot of this stuff just for fun, but I have earned a lot back specifically with things I made using this equipment, so I've actually made more than I spent so far, and now I have all this equipment at my finger tips. Sometimes it's like a business, you have to think how much you will make back before justifying buying stuff. ROI (return on investment) is an important thing if it's strictly business, you need to have plans where you KNOW you'll make back enough to cover the initial investment, or at least know you will use the item for future projects. Some of my equipment I only justify buying by telling myself "I know I can make X amount, so it will be free". I have not always been right, but most of the time I am. It helps when you do dog videos though, I have a firm grasp on how much things will likely be worth and how many views certain things might get.

Specifically just for my channel:
$200 a month for stock photos
$20 a month for my photoshop license
$100 one time for graphics
$180 for my blue yeti
$25 for a pop filter
$300 for a laptop I specifically record my audio on

Id include my editing computer but I purchased it for both YT and gaming so I don't think it counts, but I spent 3k on it.

I would of had to spend more for video editing software, but I lucked out and won a twitter giveaway for a full license for sony vegas pro.

A lot maybe close to $1000, but a lot of things provide dual purpose. For example, I took Photoshop and video editing classes at school. I also take pictures of random stuff in my life with the same camera I shoot video with and my laptop is used for many things. My family also borrows my tripod because they don't have one. So I don't know if my money was spent directly on my YouTube channel.

I think I also spend around 1000 dollars in total for my channel. That includes my Gaming PC (which I would have gotten anyway), my Blue Snowball Microphone with Pop Filter, my Sennheiser Headphones and my Logitech HD 525 Webcam. In the end it's all worth it though, just a hobby that got a little out of control!

I'm planning on restarting my channel and as of right now I've spent a little over 2k € (2.2k $) on mostly equipment and props, and that doesn't include the camera or computer I already owned. I had to borrow most of that money from my mom. I'm now saving up for a laptop that I desperately need to connect to the cam.
