How much do you want to make on YouTube?

I"m not in it for the money. I didn't start to become the next (insert infamouse YouTube name here).

I did it because I want to and that's the goal for me every day.

My monetisation is turned off at the moment, right now I wouldn't make much from it and I don't think I'd enjoy watching the figure stay at 0. I'd like to stay realistic about what I could make from YouTube, right now it's a hobby.

If I would plan to replace my current income as an engineer with the AdSense revenues, my channel should be REALLY BIG to make it a feasible alternative. I think this is the case for most of the people living in developed countries. You can find jobs with a degree or proper skill, which pay enough salary for you to have a decent life. This decent life may well require you to spend 40 hours a week of your time for your employer, which you may not enjoy.

I would like to share with you this Venn Diagram, which I really like. This is not only valid for making YouTube videos but as well for most of the things you do in life. Finding that red spot is not so easy, but that is where I would like to be at. I have been mostly at the Profession and Vocation areas.

At the moment, I love making video content and I believe that the world needs my content. I am not great at it and I am not paid for it reasonably. I am currently trying to improve myself to become a better content creator. I may be great at it in a couple of years (10.000 hours?). If I am to continue doing this sustainable, I would of course like to be paid. And handsomely! So my answer to your question is: "I want to make at least 10.000 € per month on YouTube".

The AdSense revenue won't be enough for that (10 million views?). So for this, I need to move into a direction where I have a business, which I promote using YouTube and make money out of it. Tim Schmoyer has really good videos about this subject. It would probably be selling e-books, selling videos, direct ads, affiliate marketing, etc. If I do all of these, here is the question that pops up: Am I going to love what I am doing? Well, let's wait and see.

I wanna make people smile and laugh on YouTube. Period.

No amount of money will ever replace a genuine comment from a genuine viewer telling you how much they enjoyed your video. THAT is what I want to make on YouTube, a strong, active and loyal community. Keep your money @KillG
