How much content is too much content?

I've Got It
What the title says guys but as a weekly schedule how much would you think was a good idea as well as the lenght of the videos? Like I would say anything over 12 minutes 5 times a week is too much.

For gaming channels I would say that daily content is okay if they're able to do it, it depends on the game, how interesting their commentary is or how they edit their videos.

For vlogging channels I'm usually not a fan of those Video-Every-Day-[Month] kind of videos if they use their main channel for it.
I'm not sure why, for some reason it just becomes annoying to me whenever someone starts uploading a lot of videos every day.
And every month there is another channel who decides to do this lol

There's nothing wrong with it, it's just a lot of videos to catch up on hahaha

I used to be subscribed to a girl who posted waaaaaaaay too many videos a day, and they weren't even close in length (or quality wise). I ended up unsubscribing because 1.) If I see a video around 9 minutes or more, I usually close the video because I feel like I don't have time for that. 2.) If I see a video barely more than 10 seconds, I might watch, but It doesn't make an enjoyed experience, and 3.) I could not keep up with her. I believe 4-5 videos a week is the max unless you're a gaming channel or good vlogger, but then again, this is all my opinion. My videos are usually 2:30-5:00 minutes.

Personally, unless you have roughly 1,500 active subs or more, I feel like once a week should be how much you upload, no more, no less. I get that gaming channels have to upload more, and so maybe at a push twice a week, but you need to make sure your content is watched. It's perfectly fine saying that you shouldn't care about how many views you get and you should do it because it's fun, but to actually grow your audiences, I'd probably try to stick to this. Too many videos can over-face a lot of viewers, so it's important to upload regularly, but not too often. I just made a video specifically aimed at vlogs and how to make good vlogs, as that's really all I have knowledge on, but I'd probably try to cap gaming videos to about 8 or 9 minutes. The more you funny and interesting stuff you pack into your videos the better, try to keep them as short as you can really.

I find daily vlogging a bit overbearing, mostly because I add the videos in my subscription feed into my Watch Later playlist to take a look at when I have time. It can sometimes be a while before I get a chance to see them and by that point, I'm probably not watching their latest content. I think twice a week is the maximum I can take for most channels I regularly watch.
I have a philosophy that a video should be the length it needs to be to get across the message clearly. I know that sounds a little weird, but with my own channel as an example, most of my videos are under 5 minutes. I've also got other videos that run longer, usually when I'm telling a story or trying out a product. I wouldn't dream of shortening them any more than I have already because it runs the risk of the narrative not making any sense. Equally though I am wary of length and edit out everything I feel is irrelevant or repetitive.
As for scheduling on my own channel, I'm mostly once a week but if I have a lot of videos ready or the next video is a continuation of the previous video, I'll sometimes do a second upload halfway through the week. At one point I was posting a series of videos every second day but that was because I had about 11 videos to make and it would've taken forever to follow my usual pattern! They were also more searchable the quicker I uploaded so I had to break my usual rule to accommodate them.

Well for a gaming channel too much is like four videos a day or something lol Daily uploads is normal for a gaming channel. For a Vlogging style channel it can be alot less, anywhere from 1-3 times a week is fine. Those take more editing anyways..

The point where the quantity of your videos starts to affect the quality of your videos would be a possible point where you're producing too much content. 1 great video is better than 7 or 30 okay videos. Yet there's also a point where working on 1 video too long just to make it "perfect" will also not be helpful.

This is a great point, and I will keep a note of this myself, good stuff man

Yeah, 12 minutes & five videos a week are too much. Try spacing them out to about 2-3 videos a week and keep them below 10 minutes. My channel is primarily focused on anything related to video games and I post a fourth one unscheduled whenever I find a game so rare that no footage of a physical copy or gameplay has ever been captured.
