How many ram i must have to record while playing cod 7 (sorry if wrong section)

I recommend ya 8gb of ram so yu wont have any probs playing the game and recording it at the same time ;)

 If you think you need 8... no, just no..

I personally don`t know any game that uses more than 5-6GB of RAM at highest settings, If you use Programs that need a lot of rendering in 3D like AutoDesk Maya, that`s really the only reason to get 6+ , 8max for a gamer.
You seem to be assuming you only use one application at a time. Leaving a healthy amount of RAM for windows, playing a game and recording will take up a lot of RAM. You never want to use all of it, so you still have to have some spare. This assumes you also have no folders or browsers or skype or other applications open. For these reasons I think going for 8gb is far from overkill.

Nope I that`s what I meant. a game being recorded. 8GBs of RAM is overkill.

Without knowing what your current PC specs are, advice on RAM is absolutely worthless.

For starters, you could pack 64GB of RAM into a machine that might not even acknowledge the existence of most of it, and if your video card is a pile of steaming cow dung, recording still ain't happening.

And then there's the wonderful limitation of 32 bit operating systems where windows can't address more than 4GB combined between system RAM and video ram anyways which renders more a waste of time if you're not running 64bit windows. (There are ways of doing it but require far more technical knowledge than applicable to a YouTube forum post)

Post your current system specs and then we can get down to brass tacks on improving performance. It might be that RAM isn't your weak link at all.

And 8GB of RAM is not overkill, it's the current standard for gaming. If you build a PC now with less than 8gb and Windows 7 64bit, you're doing it wrong.

Ok ty for the reply so far i am asking wheather how much should i buy not to add but i will give you this but please also tell me how much ram can i insert

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo CPU E7500 @2.93Ghz 2.13Ghz
Installed Memory ( RAM ) 2.00 GB
System type : 64 - bit operating system
Graphic card : Nvindia Geforce 210 1gb

Games never use more than 4 GB of RAM. Just get 2 sticks of 4 GB RAM or 2 GB RAM. Make sure you purchase from Corsair or Kingston and not s****y brands. I use Corsair Vengeance 2x8 GB 1600 Mhz and rendering takes only 10 - 30 minutes for videos which are 15 minutes long. Not only that, I run a FX 8320 and GTX 660 Ti so recording is no problem if you have a good rig.

Sorry but that GPU was one of the lowest in that series when it came out like 4 years ago, it`s so out-dated you`d be lucky to run a game on medium with 20fps.
And with that CPU you`d be lucky to get any sort of good framerate while recording.

I`m afraid it`s a system upgrade you need, not a RAM upgrade.

You may notice a performance increase by moving from 2GB to 4GB. Any more than that and RAM isn't your bottleneck and won't be of benefit.

At this point I would be checking prices on Video cards as well as RAM.

You may be able to squeek a little more time out of your processor, but your encoding times rendering video will suffer. Of course you can just run them overnight for all it matters.

I would think for about $200 you could get a good upgrade RAM and Video card.
