How has Youtube changed your life?

Even though I haven't been on it for too long, it has motivated me to continue creating art and learning new skills. I spend my free time learning techniques and experimenting with new programs. It also has brought my brother and I together, we were never close but now it makes me super happy to work with him and create animations with him.

Hi! My name is Nick and I recently started working for a construction company. I figured I would be doing construction work when I was hired on. I was surprised to find out that my boss wanted to venture into the world of YouTube. He had already had his company channel created so I was left to film and edit the videos! Mind you I have little to no experience in this field lol. I had to watch instructional videos on how to film and edit, help from other youtubers lol. But I have been learning as lot more about photography, cinematography, and editing. This has changed my life! I never had an interest in this type of work until now and I believe it to be something I could make a career out of. It has been a crazy an exciting adventure for me but I am grateful everyday I go to work now! I learn something new everyday. So my question is this. How has YouTube changed or affected your life positively or negatively? In what ways are you different than before?

Thanks! Nick C.

That's AWESOME you got such an incredible opportunity with your company. There is definitely a huge upside to developing these skills developed from being a YouTuber...there is so much that goes into it and with each upload you get a little better. That means you're able to be a better employee / market yourself better for better jobs (whether people realize they are building these skills or not). For me, it's helped refine my skill set and stretch/develop new skills. I LOVE THIS almost as much as I enjoy making videos/sharing them.

One of the best things that has happened is that it consistently brings my wife and I closer because we make videos together. We have a BLAST making them together, it has given us an outlet to try some crazy/hilarious ideas we never would have done otherwise, and it's fun for me to edit the footage later that night/the following day and see our interactions the way the world sees them/see the funny things my wife does that I didn't notice when shooting the video.

YouTube has helped me in so many ways i can't explain. I learned basic GFX, and kept practicing in Photoshop and now im not beginner but not advanced. I taught myself to edit with YouTube videos such as Adding color corrections and using plugins. (psssttt. cod edits, etc.) It also taught me how to create a website with webhost and what so many crazy stuff is. I learned so many crazy things my family thinks i talk crazy sometimes when i explain things. I am still in highschool currently and YouTube is just amazing. The negatives are tons of effort and work have to be put in and people think its fun and games. Family wouldn't support you on equipment for it. I learned So much from youtube it's not funny... i always wanted to do something and be created and i somehow did it. Not big but i got basic knowledge which is better than not knowing a thing. I just go into things and learn about it more and more with different videos as people explain. YOUTUBE IS THE GOAT!

it has changed my life heavily. I get off work go home spend time with the family. Put my daughter to bed, kiss my wife goodbye and drive tot he studio to meet the other 2 members the channel. We then record for 2 hours followed by editing/channel work. I spend most my free time in my day posting on forums like this or social media sites in hope to get our name out and make some friends. I dont really have free time anymore and thats something i really like.

I would never share my music with anyone before youtube. It has helped build my confidence so much. Connecting with a small group of creators who share the same passions as me has really done wonders to help nurture and grow my creativity. I've also learned a lot about marketing and editing. :)

Although I haven't been on the platform for that long (almost 3 months) there isn't much that has changed however it has given me motivation to work hard and acheive that next subscriber goal, that next amount of likes, that next positive, friendly comment. It warms my heart whenever I get even 1 views, or 1 subscriber because it shows me that somebody out there cares about my content, cares about my personality, and cares about my life. I'm not aiming to be a big youtuber, I'm not aiming to make millions, I'm just aiming to build a loving community not just for myself but for everyone on Youtube.

I honestly can't wait to get started with YouTube; however, I'm still camera shy and am trying to force myself to get in front of the camera and "JUST DO IT!" as they say XD

I want to get myself out there, but this awkwardness and shyness in front of the lens is what's stopping me.

I always want to look at myself as I record instead of look at the camera. I honestly do not know what I can do to stop myself from doing that.

So as of now I do not have neither any positive/negative things about my time with YT since I have yet to begin lol

P.S. I do not want to jack this thread from the OP, but if anyone wouldn't mind giving me some info or tips please hit me up with a message, not a reply here. Thank you :)
