How does this affect the way people view your channel?

I don't think it matters really. It's the norm to have ads on your videos.

I've never unsubscribed, stopped watching, or judged anyone because they have ads.

I'd be interested in getting some feedback from channels who have the pre-roll ads enabled:

1)Did you notice a drop in views and/or audience retention?
2) Is the revenue a lot higher with the pre-roll ads? :)

I was wondering about when you monetise a channel, are there more adverts than there were before, does it change the way people view you?

I am not seriously thinking about doing this, I only think I'd make a penny or two a month if I was lucky (there is a part of me that kinda likes that tho) and I have enough trouble getting people to watch without extra ads, if there even are extra ads.

Its all very confusing, I only got through the first few paragraphs of the terms and conditions so far.

Anyone got any tales to tell about this?
It's an interesting question - and honestly I would like to believe that we are at a point where placing an ad before or during a video doesn't cause people to navigate away. Honestly, they have already invested the time to end up at your video, so a 5 second pre-roll, or an overlay during the video shouldn't be a big deal.

Personally, I prefer the pre-roll ads, as long as there is the option to skip if I want to. However, I think we may be biased in some regard because we are content creators, and we see the merit of the advertising system. Many people may disagree with our viewpoint on this.

Another point regarding the preroll ads, they're the ones that come up before your vid and you can skip them after 5 seconds right? I have a really mediocre connection and sometimes loading the stuck-in-HD ad takes ages and can stop a few times before I can skip it.

I turn away quite a lot if I'm not a big fan of the person I am viewing or if I am just browsing for new people.

Its sad but true, I hope everybody else has good connection because this would be a non issue then.
