How does this affect the way people view your channel?

I Love YTtalk
I was wondering about when you monetise a channel, are there more adverts than there were before, does it change the way people view you?

I am not seriously thinking about doing this, I only think I'd make a penny or two a month if I was lucky (there is a part of me that kinda likes that tho) and I have enough trouble getting people to watch without extra ads, if there even are extra ads.

Its all very confusing, I only got through the first few paragraphs of the terms and conditions so far.

Anyone got any tales to tell about this?

Personally, if I like the persons content I have no trouble putting up with ads because I know that it helps them keep creating the content that I love. I use Adblock, but I've disabled it not only for YTtalk, but for a few of my favorite channels. Channels such as SeaNanners, Markiplier, MrTechnicalDifficult etc.

So in my opinion, if your subscribers are really interested in watching you succeed then they shouldn't have a problem :)

Well my best video has 50-60% retention so I am really not ready for anymore hurdles, I don't think my sub's are that interested yet.

I'll get there though.

Good luck with your new mic.

Pre-roll ads make the most money but drive away traffic, so I'd only recommend them if you get really big, but the overlay ads tend not to annoy people that much.

I don't mind ads, I usually disable my ad-blocker for favorite Youtubers because it helps them out. I haven't heard any complaints about the ads on my videos from my regular watchers either so, it must not be that bad.

For me...I don't even have 100 subscribers so I figure I'll wait until I'm more popular and people are willing to wait through the ad. I don't know if would change the way people view a channel, I just think if they don't know who I am, why would they sit through an ad whereas they may actually check out my video without one.

I'd sit through the ads @EleniVTV

100th video tomorrow, that's right isn't it? Anything special planned?

I'm still at the stage where I don't want to put even the tiniest negative thing on my channel, like 30 seconds of ads.

I enabled monetization at the beginning of December just as a trial with no intention of keeping the ads come the start of January. I had around 750 subs at the time I think and was getting about 350 views per day. To be honest I was still too small for monetization but I went ahead because ad revenue is at its highest in December so I thought it was worth it.

I didn't enable the pre-roll ads as mentioned by Gaffer, just the overlays. I didn't experience any decrease in audience retention and my views stayed the same and actually went up when my Christmas video was released. No-one complained to me about the ads and yeah I made a bit of money. I have since kept the ads on in fact and my views and subs are still going up. I guess for my content it's a bit different. My viewers are getting free English lessons worth about $15 an hour from a qualified teacher so it's unlikely they would would complain about a few ads :)

As others have said, pre-roll ads will tend to put off viewers but overlay ads are not that bad and most people generally don't mind them. :)

Thank you :)
I've been so busy I didn't even know it was my 100th video haha. That's so bad. I can barely make videos that are in focus lol.
I do so much for my videos on the weekend that I haven't been counting...poop haha.
