How do you remember what to say?

So a problem I have with making videos is that I know EXACTLY what I am going to say.... Until it comes to filming.
As soon as I press the record button, it is gone, everything, all my amazing ideas that I was so excited to use...

So what I want to know is do you have this problem? Have you ever encountered this problem? And what do you do to resolve this problem? The problem I find with writing a script is that I then take my eyes away from the camera (unless its a gaming commentary of course) but yeah.... Any tips?

There's nothing wrong with having a script and looking away, but what I usually do is record in sections!

So I write out my whole script, then I split it into two or three sentence sections accordingly

I then record that section, stop, review my script, and then continue recording!

I don't stop the camera between each of these, I just cut it all out in editing! Hope this helps a little hahah

When I used to make blogs and such, this is exactly what I did. It made things much easier.

Depending on the type of content you are creating, jump cuts are very welcome. It takes a lot of talent to do one take shots but in reality we are on YouTube and jump cuts are not this evil entity that directors and producers will fire you because you forgot what you were talking about too many times. You just have to edit the video so it makes sense.

You also don't need a full script. I don't know what content you are making, but you could just take notes and have the notes by the camera or somewhere like that.

Oh I just wing it like f**k. I have bullet points in case i completely get lost but yeah I just say s**t and see what sticks lol.
Haha I always wing my videos and they usually turn out terrible because I am so bad with words :) I guess bullet points are a pretty good idea, might try that :D[DOUBLEPOST=1462303801,1462303740][/DOUBLEPOST]

yeah man it works alot better to fill in the gaps yourself rather than write the whole thing out[DOUBLEPOST=1462303946,1462303835][/DOUBLEPOST]

yeah but of course there is a limit haha it can get unpleasant to watch if theres a jump cut every 5-10 seconds especially if you aren't cutting away to something new

I attain to a script, but with a certain degree of improvvisation (as a matter of fact, you can see the parts where I'm improvising because my speaking is more limping). Nothing wrong with having it, don't worry.
