How do you Promote your Youtube Channel?

yeah man, we all feel that way hahaha, everyone always says, "put up good content and youll get views and subs" thats not true, you HAVE to do some kind of promoting to get traffic, THEN it will go from there with sharing and stuff. promoting on here is great, speaking of, EVERYONE SUB YO MY CHANNEL!!! hahaha, nah not like that, but with VIP having a video in the signature is good, and posting a lot so people see it. social media of course, facebook and twitter, hashtag a lot. i started doing vine to help promote. reddit (if youre not scared to get haters). tell your friends to watch and share, comment on similar content videos, add contacts, send mass messages to those contacts, try to collab with a bigger youtuber. make little cards with your sites on it and hand them out. i heard tumblr is great, but i havent gotten around to trying it out. just a few ideas to get you started :). these are my techniques and im at 780 subs with 50k total views in just over 2 months of uploading, which isnt great, but better than average.

I promote it on all the social networks I can and I also try to make some friends on youtube who have the same interests as me (some of them have even subscribed to my channel)

I have an easier time as there are forums, websites, new sites that let people post videos. I do so on about 2 dozen sites. It is almost as much work as making the videos and the cycle never ends. Write content for the video, shoot it, edit it, post it, respond to questions, back to write content and so on. There is so much competition on YT you have to force yours down peoples throats. On top of that I have a facebook page and website to support the videos!

I feel your pain bro LoL. Just keep working and promote your channel on social networks or try collaborating with other youtubers. Trust something will work eventually :)

A combination of Word of Mouth, Video Responses to Popular Youtube Videos, Posting on Forums(like this, and other forums I frequent,) Posting on Social Media(Google+, Twitter, Facebook), and posting on other video sites(Reddit, Funnyjunk,Break). I make it a goal to get around 500-1000 views a day.

Here is a super interesting topic! i have been on youtube for 5 years. 2 years for my most recent channel. i have 238 subscribers, and then there are others who have been on as long as me with 100,000 subs. i put many hard hours into the channel trying to make it the best channel that i can. and lately i feel i have been putting up amazing content! the only sad thing is i put in so much effort only to have my videos never seen for example i made a video call don't touch that a few weeks ago. it is a video based of the v/h/s movies but with a twist. and i love it so much but it only has like 114 views. i just find that heart breaking. i guess the point im trying to make is what does someone have to do to start getting some exposure? also how do you promote your channel? I really want to make youtube a career.

its just a case of posting it around different places.
the only way a video will get more exposure is if people like it enough to share it, show it to their friends, etc.
for that you need a video that many people enjoy.
it's definitely great that you are making videos that you enjoy making, but in the world of youtube, its making videos that everyone wants to see - sometimes a video can have the best editing, acting, etc...but it's probably gonna have less views than a cat falling over....sad as that may be!

Now I have 250 subs and 147000 views total. Most of that thanks to 1 video[DOUBLEPOST=1375551130,1375551028][/DOUBLEPOST]
