I think its all about posting in the right place, I mainly promote on facebook on twitter but people usually ignore me :L Thats a real problem I have at the moment 
How do you Promote your Youtube Channel?

This is my main schedule for promotion when I upload a video:
1. Posts on my ARTFX STUDIOS brand and ARTFX musician Facebook pages, containing a brief text and embedded video ready to be played;
2. Post on my website with the video embedded in the news article, together with a detailed text about the video content and links to possible downloads;
3. Post on Twitter with short promo text and link to Youtube video, video can be watched in Twitter stream;
4. That same tweet is copied and put into a piece of software I use called 'Tweetadder 4', which automates my Twitter. I don't automate it like madness, just have a list of all the tweets to promote my videos and each week between 3 and 5 tweets are automatically posted to my Twitter profile, safes me some time and doesn't look like spamming at all (which it isn't too actually);
5. Post the videos on the forums I'm active on, including my own forum at my website.
That's about it.

I've Got It
1. After I post a video, I watch and like it. I then force my wife to do the same. That way I'm guaranteed at least two views and two likes.
2. The next thing I do is post it as a video response to a video in my category that has millions of views and allows video responses without approval. If there isn't one related to my video I can respond to, I'll post it to anything that accepts video responses. I'm just trying to get it in front of eyeballs. This requires as good thumbnail and title. Unfortunately I'm bad at both.
3. I then post it to one of my blogs. This starts it off with at least one back link and a few views coming in from the site. the blogs were created for free on blogger and I have one hosted web site. the interesting thing here is that I originally created these sites to give each new video a back link in order to improve it's rating but, as I've added more videos and descriptive text to go with it, my sites have started to take on a life of their own, with traffic and adsense adds. The reason I have multiple blogs is that each one is in a different category and has different videos on it
4. An odd note about Facebook, if I post a video to my Facebook page it gets zero views. I can't even get my mom to watch it. I have my doubts anything would change, even if i started mailing out checks. But, I do get a substantial number of views and shares from total strangers on Facebook.

I just started recently and all i do is, i post to fb, twitter, insta, share amongst my friends on whatsapp nd other social networking apps i kno...hopefully it'll turn out good 
I also tell my friends to help me share and those popular pages nd profiles on fb and twitter too
