How do you deal with annoying commenters?

So I know people will be people but MAN doesn't it just annoy you when some people say stupid or rude things on your videos?

In my intro I sing my name, something I've done since I was little whenever I felt awkward introducing myself. And someone...just commented...

"are u copying pewdiepie"

....facepalm.

And then I go to say that it sounds nothing like his intro and I'm a female, vlogger from NZ and we aren't remotely similar. And of course they change their tune straight away..

I guess I'm asking , how do you all deal with annoying/spammy/rude/weird commenter on your channels?

Trolls will be trolls at the end of the day the best thing to do is just rise above it, that one person is irrelevant loyal fans will support you what ever you do. I notice many of the popular you tubers include comments from other social media platforms now or instance when doing Q&A, and ignore the you tube ones due to the type of comments they get. Just a thought of your reply I would say something like....Hey thanks for commenting, and thanks for the feedback, its just my style weird huh??? Something like that hopefully will come out with a more positive response if it doesnt their just trolling and you can move on.
 
It depends how rude, if they start getting really insulting and swearing etc I would hide their comments from then on. If its negative comments all the time from the same commenter I would consider hiding theirs too, I think negativity breeds especially in the comments section on YouTube and when someone comes back to every video with only negative stuff to say I dont think it is good to keep them around, it is like that on YTtalk, if there was a member who came on only to mope around and post negative things it would eventually drag everyone else down too.
 
Best thing you can do is ignore them. And the bigger you get on youtube, the more comments like this will appear unfortunately :/

I totally agree. Criticism is very different from negativity. I think some commenters just don't know how to say things in a manner that's more constructive then just plain mean.
I can't say I've received a comment that was particularly horrifying but a few nasty ones now and then are to be expected. At the end of the day this is the internet and it's literally a breeding ground for people to say whatever they want to without any real consequence.
If a commenter goes as far to actually being verbally abusive I would go as far as banning them from my channel. There is no point at all having people like that on your work. Subconsciously it has a tendency to affect your videos because you find yourself thinking about that one rude comment even if there are plenty of others that are supportive.

Humans are weird.
 
Few things I like to do:
  • Troll them back!
  • Thank them for commenting!
  • Ignore them completely!
  • Delete if it's hate speech or direct insults to someone/something!

pewdiepie's "bros" really are the worst though lol. It's like he has his little army of 13 year-old minions trawling the interweb ensuring that nobody else does anything that pewdie has done. They're ridiculous.
 
Thank you all so much all of your points of view are totally refreshing and helpful! Don't let the negativity bring you down, have to remember that! And yes..hahah Like I love watching his videos and Marzia's but his fan base can be so annoying sometimes - it's like they're out for blood 99% of the time. Cannot deal haha !!
 
Don't be on Youtube unless you have thick skin. :)

Never, ever get into a debate with a disrespectful/negative commentator. It makes you look petty to those followers who are into you. I have the "one reply rule": if a comment really says outrageous things I will allow myself on occasion to write a single reply. If they reply I will never reply to their reply. Just don't do it, for everyone's sanity and dignity.

As the old saying goes, "Never argue with idiots. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience."
