How Copyright works on YouTube! *Important*

Well... if you're commenting on or critiquing said cutscenes, it falls under fair use and you can battle it ;P Maybe you could re-work your channel to work around that?

While YouTube often tries to follow fair use style rules, they are not obligated to, nor is it a true defense on a private platform. Fair Use is a legal defense really only useful in a court of law or internet activism masquerading as legal knowledge.

The simple truth is that the YouTube ContentID system is not designed with the channels best interests in mind. It is designed for the copyright holder.

Then update us.

I have updated several times in various threads. HFA the mechanical royalty and Sync License collection business has signed many license deals allowing cover songs, audio recordings via the Ad Supported music section on YouTube. You can still get a strike but more and more companies are allowing their songs to be used without a license as long as you don't monetize them. If you want to monetize you will need a license. You can obtain more information by emailing youtube@warnerchappell.com umpg.royalty@umusic.com and info@kobaltmusic.com You can also call Sony/ATV and other publishers and ask what their policy is as some publishers like Sony/ATV have their own deal. Kobalt is an independent publishing company and is less likely to take down a song. You can read their FAQ about YouTube here . kobaltmusic.com/ page-youtube-licensing-faq.php
