It does fall under tag spamming. Tagging anything irrelevant to the video violates YouTube's terms + you will get a lot of hate and damage the videos retention which in turn will damage it's ranking chances even more. People will click on it and click off and YouTube's system monitors for this kind of behaviour.[DOUBLEPOST=1394333802,1394333766][/DOUBLEPOST]On a side note, I think I might start adding my channel name to the start of the tags and see if that helps. Does anyone know if channel URLs effect it too?

Adding your channel name does help. I don't think the URL does much, if anything, though. I think just adding the actual name of your channel (like what you have to put here in YTtalk) is what you put in the tagging as that's what you give people to search for you.

No, you got my question right but the thing is what people put in YTTalk is different from the channel name. Like my URL is AndrewReviewYou which is what you see in my signature but my channel name is "Andrew's Gaming World" if you search my URL you won't find me unless you type it into the URL bar. So I'm thinking that adding the actual channel name might be the way and that the URL won't help at all. I've been adding my channel name to most of the videos but never as the first tag, I always thought it would hurt the rankings, but since I don't seem to rank much anyways, I may aswell add the name first and see if it helps more with suggested videos. I also read somewhere on this site that you needed around 100+ videos for it to be more effective. Not sure how much fact that was.

I guess it depends. If I type my channel name "Anthony Shelton" in YouTube search, I get a bunch of random people. But if I search my URL "thesirkibble2", I get all my stuff.

Conversely, I typed your URL "AndrewReviewsYou" in search and got nothing and then I typed your channel name "Andrew'sGamingWorld" and got all your stuff.

Interesting.
 
I wouldn't put to much effort into changing tags on older videos. After a few days after uploading, changing the tags doesn't help you being found in search results.

Yeah there was 1 guy on here called Lui or something, had a similar issue, but he had a 2nd channel and if you search his 2nd channel's name, it came up with his first channel that didn't even have the same name but I think the URL was similar lol

Yeah, I'm doing it with all my new vids with the attitude that I wouldn't rank in search anyways, so may as well try to maximise views within the viewers I have now.
