Has Pewdiepie gone to far?

I just noticed that he is expanding in non gaming areas like make-up tutorials. I guess soon we may have Pewdiepie make-up tutorials, Pewdiepie - cooking recopies, Pewdiepie toys reviews and so on. But on the other hand if YouTube algorithm and his fens like it - why not! :)

I don't find him funny. He's too loud for my liking. And his girlfriend is just as annoying too.

And as for his fans, well, most big youtubers have fans who defend them passionately.

I am curious as to just how he became so big though? Did he pay for marketing or some s**t? I remember someone saying it took him months to get just 19 subs, but then he just exploded into this very loud monster
There was a video long ago about this but long story short: He started years ago when there was less people doing it, he started while YouTube had implemented their regional algorithm (dunno what to call it), at that time he lived in Sweden where there was again hardly anyone doing gaming channels (so there's already less people doing it on YouTube and even less in Sweden at the time), naturally YouTube's algorithm recommended people in Sweden his channel and thus his growth picked up, he's moved around to different countries too, if I recall he lived in Italy for a period of time where once again not many people were doing what he was doing. I don't know when, but I think it was when he moved to England(?) is where things started to grow really fast for him because he already had the subcribers which aided even more, since the UK would have been into YouTube more with a bigger population to boot. Not to mention he was doing horror LPs for indie horrors which helped him stand out even more. What applies more so now is retention, his retention rates are so high from subscribers alone that he doesn't need SEO at all to grow. It's crazy to think that he could release an unlisted video, throw it up on Twitter & Facebook and still get millions and millions of views on it.

Simply put if you're running a gaming or vlogging channel and want to stand out when someone stumbles on your channel, you really, really need charisma. That's PewDiePie's strongest attribute and really plays a giant part in his success. But this applies to many other YouTubers like Markiplier for example. Sadly I do find since subscribing to PewDiePie like a year ago, his videos haven't been as great, still get a laugh once in a while but lately he's been a bit over the top, even Markiplier has gone a bit over the top to some extent, but everyone has to change a little from what they used to do since the saturation of gaming channels means people need to find ways to stand out, ways to adapt to a new generation of audience. Even CinnamonToastKen tweeted a few weeks saying that he wished things could go back to normal let's plays.

Without a doubt! If you don't keep viewers attention, they will click off to something else.

I think PewDiePie is smart. He knows what is doing to get where he is at and not lose everything. He seems genuine and interacts with his fans on social media. Even he is baffled by the fact that has so many subscribers. He has stated in a few interviews he wishes he had like 5 million subs instead. Rhett & Link did an Ear Biscuit with him and it is great. I don't think PewDiePie knows what to make of all his success or money and would rather be making $100,000 a year and less subs. He even referred to himself as "the most overrated channel on YouTube" He doesn't think he got to where he is because of how amazingly talented he is. He seems humble and down to earth, which I like because there are certain viners/youtubers who have less followers then him and act like bigshots when they got famous for almost no reason. I am not fan of his videos but honestly as a person he seems humble and he doesn't abuse his fans so I can't complain that he is at the top.

Here is Rhett & Links Ear Biscuit with PewDiePie. Ear Biscuits is a fantastic podcast that gets really personal with some of the biggest YouTubers out there. Check it out.

Eh, I don't mind him, but his humor isn't for me. He's vulgar for all of the wrong reasons and it just reminds me of middle school, and ugh. Anyways, props to him for being so successful, but I'll pass.

Yep, unfortunately charisma doesn't come naturally for me, or most people but some people do have natural charisma, just takes time to show it. I'd say it's 1 of my biggest weaknesses on YouTube.

I'm a laid-back kind of guy. You don't see me being the center of attention. But when it comes to a presentation, I have to turn on that switch. Ya' just gotta do it =)

Wow, I didn't know he was that modest. I didn't really pay attention to him when he started becoming popular, but now his videos just aren't that funny to me. At the same time, I understand he must be under a lot of pressure with all that attention on him all the time. Sometimes I'm more amazed by his fangirls more than anything (all of the fan fiction and fan art on Deviant...).

His mother has won awards relating to her I.T promotional work with a Swedish Fashion House, and her son just so happens to turn into the most marketable thing on YouTube - my god, you couldn't make it up! ;)
