Hardest type of channel to run?

I think the hardest type of channel to run is one where it's hard to post frequently. Animation would fall in that category, along with some other types of channels.

I don't think a gaming channel is hard to run, its more hard to grow and meet goals.

I think running a Gaming Channel goes alright as your playing games you enjoy and re living some great moments you created.

But what factors do you consider when you ask this question?
Factors I consider are how hard is it to make a video, competitng with others, cost to produce the content, how much behind the scenes work is done...

Any kind of channel is easy to run whatever the topic is. The hard part is making quality videos that people want to watch, share and talk about.

I have a lot of respect for all of you running a gaming channel. Must be millions of gaming channels so how do you differentiate?? Must be hard

I run an animation channel and it can be hard too. Mainly because it takes a lot of time making the videos. But seeing the view-count and subscribers going up keeps me motivated:up2:

Animation channels are definitely the one that stands out to me as being one of the more difficult channel types to run. If you aren't willing to dedicate a lot of time to it then you'll really struggle, since 1) the videos take longer to make (anywhere from a little longer, to a looooot longer depending on the process used) and 2) that often results in lower upload frequency, which results in your videos not being favoured by the YouTube algorithm, making it harder to grow.

Certain types of tutorial channels too that do tutorials for things that take huge amounts of time. I recall that with some 3D modelling and rendering stuff some of the tutorial videos are like 16+ hours long (that might be an exaggeration so someone feel free to correct me, I can't remember the specific number but I seem to recall it being like 15-16+ hours). Think about the time it takes to record, edit, upload etc.. and how infrequent said videos will be.

Another lol @ saying gaming is hard. For a start the actual visual content is provided by a 3rd party company. Secondly, it doesn't involve any props or going outside or gathering together a group of people to film, act etc. Thirdly, gamers are just doing what they would be doing on their PC or TV anyway (ie gaming) It's saturated for that very reason - there are hardly any barriers to entry but none of that makes it "hard."

Hard would be stuff like comedy sketches or short film where people actually have to get off their backsides and create something original and funny usually after a lot of preparation. Or prank channels, although they get a lot of criticism, there is a lot of work and preparation that takes time that goes into each video.

If you consider competition than gaming for sure. As the behind the scenes work to get your video seen is crazy. Then takes time to make the video and so fourth.

Great question to look into more though.

animation takes forever, and all the time your spending working your butt off for months, people comment "where is the next video, come on hurry up" etc.
it can get pretty frustrating.

original content is much harder to make than parody content.

I'd also like to mention music channels, since they spend a long time on their music, and then struggle to find a good visual to show, if its original music, what would get someone to watch it? you can't even rely on exciting thumbnails.

Animation for sure. The hardest and slowest in my opinion. Amount of time you must put in making animation videos I think is the top 1, but on the end is worth it for sure :-)
