Ok, someone give me the rundown on this Google+ stuff!

Do we have to sign up?
Whats the deal with all these Google+ comments etc?! I have a banner on YouTube now saying "Connect to Google+ to maintain access to new comments" - does this mean I need to be connected to Google+ to see any comments now?!
 
YOU HAVE TO, ITS NOT A OPTION, its an illusion of an option, all the new youtube "Abilities" need google+, the comments sections updates are all google+, the look and annotations are also being google+ integrated, there is no downside though, other than it being slightly complicated to do what use to be simple.
 
Yup, Google wants all channels to use G+ in future for "a more user friendly experience" (help them make money of ads by targeting them better)

Honestly, I don't think it will take off, it's like to cause major uproar, I could see them backing off it in a few months after loosing 1-2% of a market share..[DOUBLEPOST=1382123154,1382122927][/DOUBLEPOST]

There's alot of downsides I can see :

  • Real Names does not promote privacy and is bad for businesses or groups
  • It is way easier to impersonate big channels which means many large channels are switching off comments
  • the links to channels are mad, YouTube has started to use the whole channel cms id which is like 20 random characters
  • G+ people without an avatar get a weird looking square
  • G+ itself (arguably one of the worst social networks)
  • to name a few
 
... I ... I ... omg ... I DIN´T KNOW ... IS THIS GOING TO BE IN THE TEST ? I DID NOT STUDY OMG WHAT AM I GOING TO DO ... seriously I have no idea and I never really used it ... a bit too complicated for me lol
 
But since its not an option, use it to your advantage. Find the communities relevant to what you do and submit your videos there. Also, find people that have similar interests and add them to your circles and post on there every time you upload to youtube. A few hours of initially setting it up and a few minutes each day you upload could pay off months down the road with new fans, views and subscribers.

Time for me to poke holes lol,

1- You dont need to use your real name, anyone who does this already knew the risk.
2- You cannot impersonate youtube channels(At least you can till they click your name), Views+Subscribers shows who is the real person.
3- The link is changable to your username or what ever you wish just by going into your settings.
4- If you choose to not put a avatar that is your problem and your fault.
5- It was made for the soul purpose of bringing related ads to the community that most searches for it.
6- I poked holes in all your "Few", name some more LOL

Well that was fun.
