Google Preferred Channels

YouTube is trying to build a healthier environment to generate more advertiser interest.

They mention these categories:
Food & Recipes
Pop Culture & Entertainment
News
Comedy
Music
Video Gaming,

The article states that there will be 14 categories.
What do you think the other 8 will be?
I wish I was on the list with the mentioned channels listed in my category. Maybe next time. :)

It looks like this is probably the idea of the newly-appointed YouTube CEO - She came from an advertising background if I remember rightly?

@markkaz - You must be crossing your fingers that your category is included?! If it is, you'll definitely be featured. I wonder if the channels are contacted about this though in advance?

I just hope this won't reduce the advertising budgets spent on the non-top tier channels. I guess it would though. These "preferred" channels would be a bit like the old "YouTube partners" in a way.

 Pick me!

Yeah, I'm hoping for a family/kids/toys vertical.

I don't think that there will be a decrease but rather, an over-all increase because new advertisers see the value in the YouTube environment.

I wonder how it would work in relation to networks? I mean, if I understand correctly, it will be YouTube directly who will be doing all the work to get these premium ads and not the networks so networks wouldn't really deserve a cut would they? I can see a lot of huge channels wanting to leave their networks or at least renegotiate much better terms...
