Google adwords.

Well my latest video got #1 on Reddit, however the mods made a mistake and took it down. It missed a few extra hours on the frontpage, and I want to make up for that ;P
I'd like for it to have at least 500,000 views within a week or two, otherwise it's trash compared to my other montages in terms of views ^^

Wow! you set yourself high targets! ;)

When I’ve used Adwords in the past I’ve used View counts and call-to-action. It can give you a good boost in views and its not as expensive as other sites such as virool. I have found that it doesn’t seem to do much good apart from that though. There doesn’t seem to be an equal boost in likes, comments etc. anyone else found that?

Yeah. It gives a lot of views, but not nearly as many comments, likes and subs.

Okay first the basics of Ads and how they work:

Then a bit about targeting with Adwords by @ohaple

Remarket makes sense if you want to target people who have watched a video of yours but haven't subbed right away. A better use would be for websites - to turn one time visitors / customers into recurring ones, or visitors into buyers. (Like Amazon ads that show you stuff you looked at, but didn't buy.)

@JustSomeGermanDude Thx for the shout.
@uberdanger Adwords is not a bad idea. I have seen guys like Boogie using it. One thing you will need to realize as a large channel though, with the size you have, and your great natural growth, you might not even see a noticeable change in your analytics unless you spend $500-1000. Since you are big enough that I consider your channel a real business, you are going to need to invest real business money to see a change. An ad campaign of $1-2k might give you good results, and will likely pay off if you stick around long enough.

Think of it like this. A new coffee shop opens up in a hard to find area. Any little bit of advertising can boost their customer base 50%. The starbucks on the main road will have to invest a LOT more money into advertising in order to see any real results.

You will likely want to start off with a trivial amount of money (say $25-100 for your channel size) and do a small campaign using that. Look at the analytics. In the huge market of youtube, they will scale pretty well. If $100 bought you 200-500 subs, you can imagine that $1000 will buy you 2000-5000.

Even at only 6k subs, I was underwhelmed with the results of a $50 campaign. However, $15 did wonders for me when I was at 50 subs.

After the test campaign, you may decide that it isn't worth it at all; the money might be better spent on some new equipment to help improve your quality in some way.
