Generic Comments Are Bad Enough

So can negative comments.

We are not saying to leave negative comments, we are saying to help people out, give them good feedback. We never once said negative comments. And one will get negative comments, those are the ones you ignore. It's the "good video" we are talking about. Imagine if an artist was told "good painting" but it's a stick figure, he will keep making stick figures all his life because they are good. It's a simple example, but I am just trying to emphasize my point on the difference between negative and constructive criticism.

I know what you mean man, it gets a bit out of hand how nice people are to each other. I am glad we came across each other, because it has helped me increase my production value.

Imagine, you just keep saying "great vlog" but never told me to stare at the lens? That alone is a view booster because people like that connection.

"Another great start" is the other one. We get it man, but how about give pointers or actually say what you liked about the video. "I liked when you said that one joke (name the joke)."

The other thing is the difference between bashing and criticism. "This video is horrible, the intro was too long, it gave me a headache, I can't believe I sat through that." Compare it to this, "The intro is very detailed, I like the concept behind it, but it is a bit long, and can turn the average viewer away from your channel. How about you make it shorter, to further emphasize on your actual content and get people engaged?"

That's a better comment than straight up bashing the creator.

Just my two cents.
I care and want everyone to reach their max potential. Exactly why I told you to stare at the lens. Exactly why you helped me find my niche. If people can be more like us, genuine and honest, we'd all excel.

I guess it depends on the content. See, on your Happy 2nd Bday video, a few cute, good video is okay..but imagine when you create a short film..sweat and hard work..writing scripts and acting along with people. Then you wakeup to, cool vid or wow nice hair lol that can crush some people.

Oh yeah I always forgot that not everyone vlogs sorry. Just stay positive thinking at least it is not a troll

I could never give a generic comment, it would feel really weird :') I like to have conversations with people and 'good video' just doesn't cut it with most people ><

I feel the same way, especially if it is a vlog that gets personal, or a creator that takes time to put their whole effort into their video

I'm a bit of a hypocrite when it comes to generic comments. If it comes from someone with a channel, I just assume they are trying to get my to subscribe but if it comes from someone who doesn't do YouTube I am very happy they took the time to comment regardless of what the comment is. Don't get me wrong, I definitely prefer a more interactive comment, but I'll take all the sincere support I can get no matter what the form.
