Generic Comments Are Bad Enough

I like the +1's as well man, it's like getting likes on Facebook lol, makes you feel good about yourself. I like to help people grow in their channel because it helps me too. I learn from others more than I do from myself, sounds so cliche though.
 
Ever hear of the golden rule? "If you don't have anything nice to say then don't say anything at all."
I'd rather have people live by this than live by "it's just the internet so it's not real, who cares what people say."

As a creator on my old channel, that really upset me. "cool vid", wow bro like don't even comment lol and yes +1's are always good.[DOUBLEPOST=1425326389,1425326328][/DOUBLEPOST]

I'm confused. Do you mean that if someone is bad at what they do, don't tell them anything at all?

There are people who do not want unsolicited negative comments on their videos.
Those are best taken to a private message.
However, letting someone know their lighting was wonky or their sound didn't work right is very helpful.
I suppose what I'm trying to say is that as long as it is helpful and constructive it's fine, but just telling someone they suck is not.

There's a difference between bashing and criticism

It's not necessarily negative comments, but helpful comments what we are trying to emphasize

I never said to flat out tell them they suck and no one thinks, let me PM when they have a comment section in front of them. Now that I think of it, if you get "unsolicited negative comments", thank that person and then take it to PM. It's going to happen it's YouTube..on this site though I'll be more inclined to PM since it's just easier.

I guess it depends on the content. See, on your Happy 2nd Bday video, a few cute, good video is okay..but imagine when you create a short film..sweat and hard work..writing scripts and acting along with people. Then you wakeup to, cool vid or wow nice hair lol that can crush some people.
