Gaming Youtuber looking for feedback!

Marshyy

YTtalk Mad
Hello,

I'm Marshyy and my ambition is to become a decent Youtuber doing one of the things I love to do: Gaming. I would really appreciate any feedback regarding my first video (and only video) on my channel. As long as the feedback is constructive and gives me some tips instead of: 'You're awful, just quit'.

The video as I said is my first and only video on my channel. It is basically a video of me playing a Search and Destroy match on Call of Duty. But the main focus of the video is to ask what people want to see on the channel, I said I will mainly do games such as CoD or FIFA but I wanted to know what sort of things people wanted. That's all I can really say without saying what is in my video.

Link to my video, I hope you enjoy and leave me some feedback.

I'm new to this, so please don't take it that I know everything.
One thing that I think you'd be better doing is just what you enjoy. By asking people what they want, you're either going to confuse your subs (or yourself in the long term). It might be better for you to work out what YOU want from your channel and what you want to do first, post that up and see whether people like it or not (through analytics).
Also, I'd try and edit out any "erms" or mistakes you make. It's a simple chop and pull on the audio editor you use but it makes the audio flow so much better and makes it feel more polished.

I'm not telling you how to do it or how to go about what you do. I think you're just better working it out that way and "defining" what you do rather than being so flexible.

That's just my opinion and I could be wrong.

Good luck either way.

Ant

Thanks for the feedback :)

I tried explaining (probably not too well but nvm) that I would mainly be playing Call of Duty or other games, I just mainly wanted to know what people wanted to see on the games I said. I'll do my own thing for a while and when I start to build up a following of a sort I will start asking what sort of things people want to see. Thanks for the feedback again though :)

Maybe script write what you want to say as this will prevent "em" from happening. However, try not to script read it.

If gaming on youtube was not saturated I would say ok, "can you make a video on this or that because I haven't seen it". Nowadays, if i want to see content on youtube that someone hasn't made I will just find a different channel that does.
Remember you are firstly not found by who you are but what you create. Therefore people cannot tell you what they want to see you do if they don't know you exist. If your channel grows to such an extend that people will watch you because of you and not the game, then at this point you can focus on the games people want to see you play. It often happens that people don't know what they want to see and when they do its still doesn't satisfy their needs. Entertaining viewers is about finding what people want to see without them really knowing what it is.
I hope you understand.

Yeah I understand you. What I've started doing now that I know I can't just 'wing it' and hope for the best when it comes to my speaking, I don't write a full script, mainly prompts because otherwise it will sound like I'm reading off a script. Plus I have quite a number of ideas on what I could do, at that point I hadn't considered what I wanted to do it was mainly asking my friends who I asked to watch what they might want to see.

Thank you for the feedback anyway, I'll work on it :)

PS - I honestly didn't realise until rewatching how much I actually 'um' and 'erm', I can only improve though, it was my first time recording.

i think it was 7 :D

you can do bullet points on the things you want to say and then go freestyle on them

I'm honestly not surprised hahaha, I do it when I have to speak in class or things like that. It's an actual habit :D But with a script full of bullet points/prompts I should be much better

I'm doing it too. Its a skill that needs practise i think

You have a great start with that video, but i would tell you to work on your commentaries, scripts might in some cases, and in my opinion, probably get a new mic ( if its in your budget), cause you can hear you breathing in the background, along with your pops and your smacking in the background, if you fixed that you will be fine. I am only saying this because i went from an headset to a blue snowball w/ pop filter, it works perfectly, and also its very cheap.
